| For anyone who feeds raw prey model I have a question? I have a question. I have a new Yorkie. He weighs 1lbs 9 oz right now and is 11 weeks. I brought him home a week ago. He has been fed Natures variety medallions. He eats 1 and sometimes 1 1/2 per day. My question is. I want to imcorporate raw meat like chicken. Since he is so tiny how much should I feed him. I want to eventually go all raw. I was thinking of feeding him chicken necks. But how many times a day? Also how much should I feed him if I want to completely go raw? I will be doing a variety but how much since he is so tiny? thanks for any info in advance I love yt |

| I also feed pre-made raw to my boys. Barkley who will be 2 in August has eaten it ever since he was about 5 months old. I started it so I could feed both my older yorkie, Gizmo, and him the same thing. They both have done fantastic on the medallions. We started out doing NV but are now feeding Primal. They are healthy, their coats are beautiful, their breath does not smell at all, and their teeth look great. I am completely sold. Wylie's Mom has given me lots of great advice too.

| You would feed a dog 2-3% of their body weight for raw food. A puppy may eat more since they are more active. There really isn't a perfect science to it since all dogs and their metabolisms are different, but that's a starting block. I would start with chicken as it's easy to digest, chew the bones, etc. Stay with that for some weeks and don't mix it up too fast too soon. Their systems need to get used to it, plus you can tell if your puppy is allergic to anything then. Chicken necks are mostly bones and you would want more meat. I would maybe start with a leg, or bone in breast first. There is a threat titled 'the benefits of a prey model diet' that has lots of questions and answers. Just type in the search box 'prey model' and it should pop up. There are about 25+ pages so there should be some answers for you there. Good luck!
