YT 2000 Club Member | benedryl.. Tucker tried to eat a bumble bee.. he got stung, so I gave him 1/4 teaspoon of childrens benedryl, that was ok right? I mean the amount. Ive read that dogs can have bendryl but the amount was a little iffy. Ive seen 1/4 to 1/2. He is under 8 pounds, so I figured the 1/4 was enough. He seems fine other than when it first happened he kept rubbing his mouth. (happened about 10 mins ago) I gave him the benedryl to ward off any possible reaction. He wont stop eating bugs!! The other day he tried eating a black nasty looking spider and that too bite him. I swear, the boy wont stay out of trouble

| It is 1-2 mg per pound. The dosing equation is on YT somewhere (posted by bchgirl). Ellie is 6.8 pounds and her dose is 1/2 tsp.

You need to save it, Ellie May. LOL... The formula for figuring out the dosage for Childrens Liquid Benedry is: Your dogs body weight times 5 divided by 12.5 = dose in cc/ml To figure out your dogs body weight you have to convert ounces to pounds... EX: a dog that weighs 4 pounds 10 ounces would weigh 4.625 pounds you must take the 10 ounces and divide by 16 then add the 4 pounds... 10 divided by 16 = .625 + 4 =4.625 4.625 X 5 divided by 12.5 =1.85 cc/ml Hope the bumble bee eater is okay. Frazier is gonna get stung if he doesn't stop putting his nose to the business end of bees.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | It's easier than it looks. I used the calculator on my computer and figured out the dosage BEFORE I ever needed it. Just a tip.

He was fine after the sting. He had no reaction and what benedryl I gave him didnt bother him one bit. lol. I thought for sure he would be alittle bit sleepy but he continued to run around like the little fire cracker he is.. I do appreciate the help.

| Our golden retriever is the same way. She'll eat anything. The other day there was a frog, she loves frogs, well, I had to get them their fresh water, when I came back, she was chewing on the whole frog with white stuff coming out of her mouth, hubby said it was frog pee(OMG, thought I was going to heave right then). I've also seen her try and eat bees. Give that little guy a hug for me, he is so darn precious |

| Well, I was going by what hubby said, but, if it's toxic, it couldn't have been too toxic, as it didn't hurt her at all. |

| I told my hubby that(about it being toxic), he just laughed and said what I said, must not be too toxic, as it didn't hurt her. It was just gross watching her chewing it like it was a filet mignon |

| Thanks for posting the dosage! My vet said it was safe to give Benadryl for flights, etc. Does this make them drowsy at all? Or does it just make them more relaxed?
