I agree that our little yorkies are some of the pickiest eaters around. My little guy loved the Royal Canine then stopped eating it, so I switch to Fromm and he ate it for awhile and then stopped. We are using the Merrick's line now and so far so good. He seems to enjoy it and I am hopeful that we will actually be able to use a whole bag of something before he stops eating it. ;) |
I am so glad to see that I'm not unique, or should I say Krystal is not unique. Talk about picky. Unless you're talking about my cat's food. She love's his food. Canned and dry. We have to feed the cat up on a chair now. I guess it's time to try something else. Dion |

What do members think of Orijen? Its 75% premium animal ingredients, chicken, turkey, fish and eggs 25% Fruit, vegetables and botanicals (?), fortified with antioxidants, vitamins and chelated minerals % Grain. My Yuriy is now nearly 8 months and I have to say that he is in fabulous condition and is powerful aroung the chest and rear quarters. Comparing him with his siblings the owners of these pups saw a remarkable difference and have all now changed to orijin. Do any other members use this premium food? Yes its costly but, I believe in things like this, you do only get what you apy for. btw. The original suggestion to use this brand were 2, independant of each other, local vets here on Tenerife.:D |

Oh wow Merricks is what I fed my Chloe and check it out "Merrick Wilderness Blend / Score 127 A+ " its got like the highest score! go me! lol My cat sissy eats Taste of the Wild ( http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/ ) It is natural too. I should grade it though to see how good it actually is. |

Its all very confusing tbh. However, as with my previous dogs over the years, if they look good, feel good and are very happy then we must be doing something right, in the way of foodstuffs. So many different brands in the USA. Luckily for me the selection here on Tenerife is limited to a very few high premium foods, its probably slightly easier. Definitely no supermarket brands for me, however.:D |
Any suggestions for a very low fat dry kibble? My shichon has put on 3-4 pounds in the month Toby has been here. I was giving them Naturally Wild and they love it but it is 17% minimum fat! So I bought a bag of Science Diet Light and see here where it received a grade of F and their breath is now starting to smell bad. So I guess I will have to throw it out. Is 17% fat high? |
I'm not sure what food that is, but usu when a food has high percentage of fat, it has high percentage of protein. Maybe it's the portion size that's causing the weight gain? Momo tends to gain weight & he eats the same amount as all my other 3. Maybe it's just their metabolism, so I've cut treats & trying to manage his weight that way. It looks like that received a high grade and the fat content is only 6%. I've always left food down all the time but now that we have two dogs in the house, I guess Speedy is afraid Toby is going to eat all the food (Toby never overeats) so she is eating as much as she can. Canidae Well... I guess I did pretty good then. I was coming on here to ask what you all thought about me just NOT opening the new bag of Eukanuba that I bought for Molly who is now 11 weeks old (that is what the breeder had her eating and gave me a sample bag of). Anyway, she really is not eating it now that I am feeding her canned food just to get anything in her. So, I tonight bought a bag of Canidae and decided to just start giving her that. She already has diarrhea thanks to the coccidia and isn't liking her dry, so I am just going to ace the "gradual switching" of food since I am out of the sample bag and go straight to this new stuff. I sure hope that is ok. Let me know if it isn't soon because I plan on feeding her it in about 1/2 an hour. I plan to take the unopened bag of Eukanuba back to the store soon. |
