I am going to ween him off of the Purina slowly, in 7 days I plan to have him on Wellness dry. i am sooo glad I found this forum because I had no idea about doggy nutrition! |

YT Addict | I just wanted to update everyone on Emmett's progress with his new food. He loves the wet Merrick food, he eats it like it is a drug! He does not like the Wellness kibble so I am going to try something else. Someone suggested EVO. I have noticed that Emmett's coat is much shinier and softer than it has ever been. I am attributing this to his new diet. His poop also looks better than it ever has, if that is possible LOL. Thank you everyone for all of your help or I would not have known that I wasn't feeding Emmett good food.

| Does anyone know of a good natural alternative to heartworm prevention and fleas? I am trying to avoid toxins for my little guys... Thanks in advance for any advice. |

| Welcome! I see you are new. I don't know the answer to your question, wish I did. Kaji's on heartguard, but no flea meds since he doesn't go outside anymore. In order to get more responses, you might want to try starting your own thread. If you need help with that, post again and I'll show you.

| Ok so now I need help My baby had been sick and was not eating anything! I tried Caesar bc I was desperate and now that is all he will eat! My vet wanted me to wait to change his food (kibble) bc he was new to me and very tiny but now I don't know what to do. He will not eat any kibble. I've tried to mix it and he won't have it. How do I get him off Caesar (which I know is junk) and on to dry kibble again. He is one pound and he is controlling me like he is a weight-lifter I have to be really careful bc I don't want him to get hypoglycemia again.

| Obviously, feed him. Try adding dry kibble to his Cesar food little by little. Add 5 kibbles this week, next week try 8. Wean him off slowly, and I usually suggest 1/4 new with 3/4 old, but your having food issues with him and the threat of hypoglycemia. Did you try regular kibbles just softened up in water? Is this the first wet food he has tried? There are a lot of ways to entice him to eat dry kibble. Including boiling plain chicken in water and then poring some of that broth over the kibble. But, transition him to anything new slowly to avoid an upset tummy.

| I have tried kibble with warm water, kibble with chicken broth, baby food, several different better kinds of wet before I tried Caesar. I had heard that Caesar was like junk food for dogs and that they really like it so I tried it. He loves chicken but I felt like the wet was better than the chicken only. When he came to me almost 3 weeks ago, he was eating his kibble fine then he had a hypoglycemic episode, a bad one, and ever since then he has been so picky. He will play with the kibble and occasionally eat one. He loves his treats and I have been supplementing with nutrical advised by my vet. He is tiny so I think at this point, like you said, whatever he will eat, I will let him! Thanks for the advice. I will try a small amount of kibble mixed in like you said.

| I know people won't like what i am going to say and i really don't care. I have an extremely picky eater. I've tried all kinds of top brand wet food and Ella hates them. I feed her Cesar now. She loves it. I've tried to take it away but can't seem to get her to eat anything else. I feed top brand dry food which she likes, Royal Canine Yorkie 28. She's 100% healthy. I know that it's not the best dog food, but i do what i need to do to keep her happy. This is only to the OP. I'm not interested in what other people think. =]
