Heat question Stormy's in heat right now, as soon as she was back home I noticed she had started bleeding, shes done bleeding now and I've read on here that about 10-13 I believe is when the female is "ready" to breed. I am NOT trying to breed her, no worries. I only ask because when she was still bleeding the first week she was okay with my moms dog, who is also in heat (a female of course) they acted normal just sniffing each other. Now that I notice it was about day 10-13, the other day I was at my moms boyfriends house and we had both dogs playing in the yard. Stormy is now extremely playful with my moms dog. For a while they were running and hopping on eachother just play fighting. It was actually very cute considering I've never seen Stormy play with another dog. But after about 30 mins of them playing Stormy started pushing her butt in Annabelle's face and wiggling it. It was pretty funny, we all had a good laugh, she was wagging her tail and laying down with her butt in the air, poor Annabelle thought it was a game. Well Stormy jumped on Annabelles back about two times and tried to "make love" lol Well today, it's been about 3 days now since that incident, I was at my moms house and Stormy would NOT stay off Annabelle! She was humping her every chance she could get, they are both females. I've never seen her do this before and she doesn't show any signs of this at home, but once she's around my moms dog she wouldn't get off her and she holds on to her so tight, my moms dog was so shocked and stunned she didn't know what the heck was going on. I realize this is long now, My question is will she get over this or will this continue?? I mean it was kinda funny at first but now it was just getting overboard. I am going to go ahead and get her spayed end of May, once her vet returns and shes been done her heat. Last edited by yorkie_mama22; 04-28-2009 at 06:24 PM.

Once she is past the breeding stage, the behavior will stop. However, if you don't spay her, she'll go through this every Season. I've seen 2 females simulate a tie. Canine behavior is very facinating.

I was not going to spay her previously. I went through one heat with her and it wasn't a big deal, she wasn't around any dogs. We are in an apartment so she is never outside alone, she's always on her leash at the park, especially on a heat. I watch her like a hawk! But now that my moms got a yorkie as well, I don't think I can handle this and your right she sure is a little *$%@ lol. I don't want to "torture" her with each heat. I am worried about a spay but I have trust in my vet, he has done surgery on her once already so I feel trust in him doing a spay for her.

My biggest fear for a female that is not spayed without ever being bred is Pyometritis.

I definitely don't plan on breeding her, and like you say I don't want to put her through this every time she comes into heat, it is so sad how bad she wanted it from the other female. lol
