| How soon after spaying can I give a bath? Brandi was spayed on Wednesday. She is doing fine. In fact I cannot get her to slow down especially when I get home from work. Her appetite is strong and she is peeing and pooping okay (some constipation but it's getting better) and no vomiting. However she looks like a homeless dog that has been out on the streets for months . Her coat is dull and listless and no longer silky. I want to give her a bath so bad but how long do I have to wait to give her a bath. The only thing I have been able to do is to brush her and wipe the poop off her bum . She is used to sleeping in the bed with me but I have been crating her at night so that she doesn't jump off and on the bed while she is still healing and because she stinks ! I miss sleeping with my baby . Last edited by yavenay; 04-10-2009 at 06:17 PM. |

| Yikes. NO BATH!!! The incision is not healed after only 3 days and bathing can make the incision fall apart and/or cause infection which is bad, bad, bad. I just ordered some Pet Head Dry Clean shampoo, and some deodorizing spray since my boys can't have baths for another two months I'll let ya know how I like it.

| I just did a google search and the recommended time frame is 10-14 days. This sucks but I will definitely wait. I don't want any infections especially after what she has gone through her entire life. The vet informed me after the spaying that Brandi (who is a rescue) had been through several c-sections. SHe was used for breeding. Apparently the breeder just didn't care about her and just neglected her. Used her up and tossed her aside . So you can imagine how I felt after hearing this. It just makes me want to love her and spoil her even more. I made a promised to Brandi that her senior years will be the best years of her life. She is 7yrs old and deserves to be spoiled and pampered for the rest of her life . Anyway my little stinker really is my little stinker at least for 10 more days . |

| when Remy had her surgery the vet said NO baths until all the stitches are out ( she had the kind of stitches that have to be removed by the vet). When the stitches were taken out ( about 14 days) the vet said if I could hold off on giving a bath for a couple more days it would give the little holes in the skin (from the stitches) a chance to close up.
