| Raw food transition OK, I started my yorkie on NV raw medallions 2 days ago. The first day I gave her raw for breakfast ( with yogurt) and her old kibble for dinner. Next day I did the same, all seemed to be going well. Today i gave her raw for both breakfast and dinner and still going ok. The only thing I have noticed is that her stools seem to be extra firm. I don't want her to get constipated, any thoughts or ideas. I have to say though that her poops smell 100% better. Just wondering how others have handled the transition. Also I notice that if the food is too cold, she's not real happy after eating it. She lays down for a bit like she has a tummy ache. This evening I let it sit out for a little bit and she was fine after eating. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Glad to hear it's going pretty well, that's always exciting! The poo will be very small, hard, and non-smelly - that's normal; it may even have little white patches on it if it sits for awhile - that's just digested calcium. Firm is good, that's how they should be. I dethaw a few day's worth at a time - I set it out on the counter and get it nice and dethawed, then I put the tupperware in fridge and feed from that for a few days. That way, I don't have to dethaw each day. You can definitely let it sit out for a good 1/2 hour before feeding, if you like - no harm there! Keep us posted as you go!

| Thanks for the reply, Yep there was dry white patches on the poop. Glad to hear it's normal. i like the idea of thawing enough for more than one day. |

Isn't the poo amazing? (isn't it weird to talk about poo being amazing )

| Welcome to YorkieTalk and YAY for RAW!!!!!! I also recently started on raw and am thrilled with it. Snickers poop is the same, small and firm. I do a rotation diet so he gets kibble in the evenings although I know he would much rather have the raw I have seen the white as well, looks like your babe is enjoying it. Snick has no prob eating it cold, out of the fridge, great that you can let it sit out, hopefully your pup will not have belly aches anymore.

| Yea for raw is right! I can't decide whether to do the rotation thing or just go all out raw. I've heard several different opinions. Are you feeding NV? |

| Yes I am!!! I love it...we are on chicken right now and I feed EVO kibble in the evening. Some days Snick will eat more kibble in the evening than others but he is happy. Evo and Instinct (kibble NV makes) are very comparable and Snick took well to Evo so we kept up with it.

| YAY FOR RAW!!! It will not only be firmer but a lot less in volume. Lola goes just once a day and it doesn't stink! Who would have thought we could get so excited about poop??!! |

| Snick goes like 1.5 times...hahahah He squirts out a TINY (few centimeters) in the early morning and then finishes with his few pellets of poop in the afternoon. Thats it!! Thought the Evo would make him cont to poop in more amounts, but I guess not! I heart NV RAW!!!!!!!!
