Donating YT Addict | I really need help with fleas!! I have used Frontline Plus then I used Advantage. Poor Tyke still has fleas. He keeps itching. And I checked it's not food allergy.....I seen the fleas and have picked some off of him. This past Monday I bought some BioSpot because in Mississippi you have to use the strong stuff to work. The Biospot has been better at controling the fleas, and that was put on him Monday. Well today i got 2 fleas off of him and bathed him an all Natural Flea Shampoo it has cinnamon oil, cedarwood oil that i guess helps to keep fleas away. But i'm asking for any help because down south fleas are so much worse than anywhere else. Oh we also bought some stuff to treat the yard. I'm just out of ideas and tired of spending money on stuff that isn't working. I think Tyke is a flea magnet and the fleas are attracted to him for some reason. well any advice is appreciated........thanks

| Comfortis We use "Comfortis" on ALL our furkids (including the puppies @ 14 wks). Even though my dh treats our yard for all type of bugs/insects...this is the only thing we have found here in NW FL that works!!! We don't even have them in the yard. Something about if it get's on the dog & bites them..the flea dies! It's been working for us in the past 3+ years. Hope it works for you. ps you can not give it to cats, we have to use a cat version of advantix for them

YT 3000 Club Member | fleas love humidity, that is one thing, I have read about using water mixed with apple cider vineagar and spray it on their skin, it makes their skin more acidic and the fleas dont like it. It is good for the itches as well, and you can put it in their water. Their is some stuff online called cedarcide I think its called and I have heard good things about it. I vacum almost every day here in wa state, and run a flea comb through him almost every nite. You can put a saucer with soap and water out at nite by a light and they will jump into it they go towards the light, it they are hatching in your house. nRemeber when you vacum change your bag and seal it up, they will jump out or you can seal it up and put it in the freezer and freeze the little burgers if you ddont want to use up your bags. Have you tried the borax in your carpet, it can get dusty I here. |

BANNED FOR NOT SENDING A GE GIFT! | Fleas I'm not from down south but.....the interceptor I give my guys for heartworm also works on fleas.....it doesn't kill them but keeps them from reproducing...I also use frontline during the spring and summer....just a thought |

| Treating the dog is not enough. You need to eradicate them from you home also. It is expensive but buy enough flea bombs to treat every room, then repeat in 2 weeks. |

| Oh girl! I know exactly what you mean... You think you've bathed them and cleaned up everything and gotten rid of all the fleas and then you take them out to potty and its all ruined. So here's what I do to keep the Mississippi fleas out of my house and off my baby without the chemicals. -First during the spring/summer, I comb Jamie 3 times a day and check for fleas. When I thought I had them all it turned out that they were hiding in his facial hair which of course is the hardest part to get Jamie to let me comb. If I found even 1 flea, I ran every piece of fabric that Jamie had been NEAR through the dryer and vacuumed the whole house. Thankfully I have laminate floors so I don't have to deal with the carpet mess. -We keep our grass cut super low. This year we are looking into getting some diatomous earth which also eliminates fleas. We also have Orkin (we had a serious wasp problem last year!). They come out and spray the lawn for fleas. -If needed I bath Jamie in Dawn Original Dishsoap and then use a deep conditioner and then a coconut scented finishing spray after he's blowdried. Apparently fleas are repelled by strong scents like coconut and lavender, etc.

| those southern fleas It does seem like they are harder to get rid of down here, doesn't it? We used to use Frontline, but it stopped working. We used Comfortis last summer and it worked wonderfully! We did the Dawn bath on one of our bigger dogs, and it was wild how you could see them all coming to the top. Also, my husband has put black walnut leaves in the corners of our rooms before. That seemed to get rid of those that we had in the house. Like someone posted earlier, you can get rid of them in the dogs all you want, but if you don't get rid of them in the house they will come right back. Good luck! |

| If you do use Comfortis (it's a pill), be sure to give it with a meal. And be prepared for barf, just in case. It did make Molly sick at her stomach one time. |

| "Please see my post on how rubbing coconut oil into their fur kills the fleas. It truly works instantly and is good for several days and my Yorkies love it. It heals the sores caused by the fleas, soothes the animal, stops the knitting, and best of all it doesn't poison. One of my babies cannot stand to be bitten by a flea and will make herself bloody knitting and scratching the area where she is bitten. The coconut oil seems to provide instant relief. It is said to break down the exoskeleton and suffocate the flea." posted by Clearblue. I hope this helps!

Donating YT Addict | thank all of you so much. I went to the health food store and bought some coconut oil which has been mentioned on YT before to try and the girl in the store told me that the owner feeds her dogs Yeast & Garlic Wafers and it keeps fleas from getting on her dog. So i bought both! The wafers are only 9.95 for 160 and Tyke is under 10 lbs so he only needs one a day. I think that's a bargain when it comes to controlling fleas. well i'm going to put the borax and salt in my room size rug.....which i had to do this a long time ago and it worked. that's the only carpet i have in my house besides some throw rugs. thank you all so much

| Please, please, please DO NOT USE Biospot!!!! Do a google search on it and you will see it has caused seizures and death in many dogs and cats. I know - my little Becca had seizures after I used it on her. It is just not worth it!!!!!
