| Almost Heartworm time... HELP! OK, we rescued Gracie in October and the vet told us not to worry about heartworm until the spring... Well spring is soon approaching and I need to know what to get her. She has a beef allergy so we need to stay away from anything that has beef flavoring in it. I am going to try to set her up to see a holistic vet coming in the next few months... but until I can get her in... what do you suggest? |

| Apple took interceptor last month...It was her first month, and all went well...She only weighed 2 lbs. and 7 or 8 oz., so I was concerned, as it is for 2-10 lbs...I think there are very few side effects w/interceptor...however, I'm sure you'll get lots more info. on this subject....All the Best to You and your baby..... | I like Sentinel. You give it once a month and it takes care of fleas, heartworm and other types of worms. I've never had any problems with it and I've used it on puppies and adults. You have to get it from your vet, however.

| I would try to take her in before you give her anything. My vet always told me that is is dangerous to give a dog any kind of heartgard if they have not been tested first. I was giving my dog heartgard 6 months at a time but had to take him is every spring for testing. So i now give it to him all year round, just to be extra safe and so he dosnt have to be tested every spring.

| Interceptor, Sentinel or Heartgard (not Heartgard Plus).

| I just ordered Maddies Interceptor today after returning from her vet to be tested. Make sure to get your baby tested before starting on heartworm meds. |
