| Microchips Curious as to if any of you have had microchips implanted into your yorkie puppies. I have heard mixed reviews on this procedure. Some people have told me it could cause tumors and some have said its a good thing. Just wanting to know what the consensus is on here. Thanks in advance!! |

| All four of my fluffs have microchips..........all were over the age of 1 year when I had it done! I have "heard" that it can cause tumors/cancer but don't know that I have read anything to back the statement up!

BANNED! | my older pup didn't come with a Microchip but my new pup did and i asked my vet to put one on my older pup but he said it don't make sense to put it because if someone finds him and dosn't take him to a vet or a shelter to get scanned than u wont get him back and they will just keep him so i changed my mind... |

BANNED! | Most home breeders don't get there pups Micro chipped because of the pricing but some do get it done I think to sell the pups for more but if my little girl ever has baby's I don't want to make that decision for the other pups I believe that should be the new owner choice I didn't have a choice with Minnie but now im scared about the tumor I hope she doesn't get that any time in her life time. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think negative stories about microchipping are being passed by the commercial breeder lobby. Since many states are requiring this, stories of the harmful effects will spread over the internet. The truth of the matter is they don't want to spend another $20.00 a dog, they much prefer tattooing, that way, they can identity their dogs, but no government agency can if it turns up abandoned. This is one of the safest procedures there is, and I've read the studies, involved with linking microchips and rats, and you must remember that rats are tumor-making machines and information gathered on rats and tumors does not always cross species. I would advise you not to microchip a rat though. I think I've read one study of a dog that had cancer, but this was in Russia, and many other things could have contributed to the cancer. Your chances of recovering your dog if chipped are so much greater, if someone finds your dog, all they have to do is take it to the vet, and they can notify you. Read this thread before you make up your mind against it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rch-yoshi.html. To answer your question, yes, Joey is microchipped, we got it done when he was neutered, and I feel much safer.

| My dogs are all chipped! If your dog gets out of the yard and gets picked up by animal control they scan them first...I have been at the vet a couple of times when people bring in strays to see if they are chipped. Both times they were not, but if they had been and the info up to date they would've been home by the end of the night!! Plus it also PROVES that it is your dog. Say FeeFee runs away and then all of a sudden the people down the street have a dog that looks just like FeeFee...how would you be able to PROVE that she is your FeeFee??

| Mine are microchipped....its the law here. No ill side effects so far and I have the peace of mind knowing that if my dogs got lost or stolen-they'd be found. |
