| I have been reading with much interest on Moducare! We had another Vet visit shortly after Gyspy's clipping, and this is the second time that has happened to us! It is so serious with her! Her scratching is uncontrollable and she draws blood! She gets red everywhere on her body and it is sad! She is red and feverish too! Hate the steriod shots, and I can't say they work well, but don't know what else to do! It is not the shampoo, and I wonder if it could be the blade or something they clean it with? I am at my wits end with worry! She is resting finally, but we are talking hours of serious scratching! Happened 8 weeks ago too! Please, let me know if this happens to others! Benadryl does nothing! |

| I will be watching this too to see if it works. My bichon has terrible summer allergies. She chews on her legs and feet so much that she chews off her hair and makes herself sore. I tried some of the products suggested by Susan, but they did nothing for her. Benedryl does nothing for her. Even the shots from the vet we tried last summer, only lasted for about 2 weeks max. I would love to find some relief for her. We haven't gotten into the pollen season here yet, so maybe if I get ahead of it...we won't have that bad of a year. |

| Roxy has been on Moducare for two weeks now, they say it takes about 3 weeks to work. Week 1 I was a little concerned because she seemed to get worse, then Wylie's mom advised me of the extremely high pollen count in my area. She cleared up faster than normal. I have noticed the last couple of days much less scratching and no intense scratching at all as before- just a brief scratch here and there. Folks, it may be a little early but I think we may have a winner! I don't know if a larger dosage makes it work quicker but I have used two capsules already. Roxy gets her's in a little peanut butter which she licks off a spoon. And her little eyes are crystal clear! I started taking it for cholesterol but realized I haven't had a sinus headache which Iusually get when the pollen count has been extremely high. I've been taking 2 after breakfast and 1 at bedtime for 2 weeks. Haven't had my cholesterol checked again yet. My skinbaby is waiting to see how it works for Roxy and me first. |

| How much are you giving Roxy daily? I have been giving Gracie about 1/2 capsule daily for almost 2 weeks and I can't really tell much of a difference in her scratching. Gracie is about 8 1/2 lbs.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Nellye - I was just going to PM you today ! SO happy you might be seeing results! And for yourself too!I have a bit of an update, but not really a complete one. First, I called Moducare directly and spoke w/ a woman who I think was involved w/ the studies - she was very knowledgeable. I had a few questions for her -- but then she also said that I should go ahead and just give the dogs a 1/2 capsule (rather than trying to give 1/8th capsule, which is what I was doing). She also said that in talking to her Vets, that many of them just go ahead and have their clients sprinkle it on the dog's food - and they're still seeing the results. The Vets said that bc dogs metabolize fats differently than humans, that it seems less important to give w/ non-animal fat. But, she said, they can't put that on the instructions bc that info is anecdotal only (not studied). For now though, I will keep giving it w/ the PB so I can evaluate it first, before changing anything. She also said that the 2-3 wk mark is the earliest one would see results - and that it actually takes 1-3 months to see full results. On to Marcel - not a whole lot to report yet. His eyes seem less gunky/watery - noticed this after about 2 weeks (this Weds will mark 3 wks for him). His other main symptom was the paw chewing - this hasn't changed much yet...so I'm still hoping for improvement there. The pollen has been and still is so high here, so at least it's a good time to test this out.

The biggest difference I am noticing is clear eyes and less intense scratching. She still scratches but not like she's losing her mind, if that makes sense. I noticed too that yesteday while we were at my mom's she scratched twice in a 4-5 hour period. My mom noticed that she wasn't scratching as much and called it to my attention. We don't spend much time at my mom's with Roxy because my mom has every pollen bearing flower and tree in the world in her yard! So of course my mom is elated at the possibility of spending more time with her "Granddog" | |

| Greetings, Roxy is heading into week 4 of Moducare. Her eyes are still clear and still no more intense scratching. She's been on about 1/3 capsule daily. we are going to 1/2 capsule this week. I don't know if this has anything to do with the moducare, but her "heels" on her rear feet used to be red and scaly- now they are normal again and hair is growing on them again. Perhaps the redness came from her constantly bumping her foot on the floor/or whatever when she was scratching so intensely. Who knows, I am just soooo glad that she seems to be getting better and better. |

| Greetings, I got my moducare off Ebay, I believe it's also available at iHerb.com. I paid about $20.00/free shipping for a sealed bottle of 90 vegetarian capsules. I looked and the person I got mine from isn't listed- so I would make someone an offer of $20.00 and see what happens if the price is over $20.00. I am now giving Roxy about 1/2 capsule daily in peanut butter. I started out with 1/4 capsule. Wylie's mom talked with the company and they advised we could give 1/2 capsule. I only missed about 2 days since I started giving it to her on March 30th. |

| Roxy had been on Moducare- the plant sterol for almost a month. The results looked very promising. Then I took her to be groomed and now her eyes are running, she is scratching and chewing her paws. I have checked for everything. I suspect the groomer did not use the shampoo I bring this time. Also, I increased the Moducare to 1/2 capsule daily about the same time. Not sure if it was too much. She has never been quite this bad. I started her on Benadryl two days ago- it helps her sleep but that's about all. Otherwise she is still active, eating and pooping! |
