- do you think she has progressed to an eye infection? During allergy season, it has not been uncommon for Marcel to get conjunctivitis...

| Greetings, It's been a minute since I was online. Roxy has been doing great. I put her back on the Moducare after being off for about 4 days early in May, when her eyes got so bad. Now she is virtually itch free. (We started Moducare March 30th.) Every now and then she will chew on her feet if I forget to wipe them down when she comes in from her walk ( Apple cider vinegar and water spritz). Has anyone else had any success? I wonder if I'll have to give it to her forever? |

| Can I get an update from those of you using this product. I'd love to try it on Bean if you think it's working! |

| I just love this Thread Anne. . thank you for initiating this post . . .my Annika BELONGS to the many here that have allergies . .as that has been ruled out for her . . .she has been on NB LID for at least 2 months now and all the raw skin/bad rash is gone . . she however still scratches and there are some days that are worse . . none though gets bad enough to make her skin be raw like it used to around the belly . . . I sometimes give her fresh fruits and somehow I just realize there are days when it gets worse so I try NOT to give her fruits anymore . .poor baby as she loves fruits as much as Tiger does . . . I would love to know if this is something Annika can take as well . . she is on Atopica because of what I have read through here about it being so much better (milder) but it does not seem to work . . .and I am already complaining of paying $44 for a months supply . . .only to read that Patti pays $60 I guess I don't mind paying for meds provided it does really work but I still see my baby scratching . .she has ruined quite a few PJ's already so now am having her wear a BB without pads to cover her entire torso . . |

- I know how much you've been struggling via our PMs. But, I am thrilled to hear there is some progress! Did you ever have that 2nd thyroid panel, I can't recall?I had taken Marcel off of his Moducare trial...not bc I thought it wouldn't eventually work, but bc I just could not stand his suffering any more. He was waking up at 1am and 3am to chew his paws. So, that's when I put him on Atopica and it was a miracle! He almost never goes after his paws at all now. I think his Atopica is about $50 a month. I'm right now going to try to taper his dose down to 3x week and see how it goes, which would make it cheaper as well. Many dogs only need the med 2-3x week, after the loading phase...but some are unable to taper too. If I cannot taper him, then eventually I will get him allergy tested, and then they'll develop custom allergy shots for me to give him at home - and this will rid him of any/all allergies that he has currently. As for the Moducare, I think I got mine at iherb.com. If you want what I have leftover, you are welcome to it. The bottle is open, of course, so you may not be comfortable w/ that - but it's yours if you want it.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Btw, I can't believe the Atopica isn't working at all, that's really disappointing. Makes me wonder if it's even an allergy. What about seeing a Vet Derm, have you tried that yet? It was worth every penny for us.

It was worth every penny for us. well I can't really say if it is working or not . . perhaps it might be my fault as I keep giving her fruits there are days when I rarely see her scratching, but then there are days when it seems she's doing it too much . . . I really need to try to control myself in NOT giving her anything except the NB LID . . .no I actually never really got her second tests . . it seems my vet feels it is unnecessary as she does not have the syptoms of one having thyroid he says other than scratching I dunno . . . I mentioned about a vet derm but he says there is none locally . . .so I have no clue what to do . . .Annika really isn't so bad as she no longer sheds . . . it is just the scratching that bugs me . . .as I hate seing her so uncomfortable . . . again, it might be my fault . . I actually just gave her a few bites of mangoes 2 days ago and that's when I felt she got worse . . so am now stopping the urge to feed her fruits completely . . . . .and see how it goes . . right now, she takes the atopica once a day . . .definitely not worth lowering the dosage at this time ![]() I would love to try the moducare . . . let me know how you want me to send money . . .it is worth giving it a try . . . . Just PM me your address and I'll get it off to you this week.Gosh I wish you had a Derm near you. My derm says that skin issues can only be allergies or secondary to disease/illness. If there is disease, it's really tough to say what it is if her only symptom is the itching. I can imagine how frustrated you are . Ya know, Dwerten is soooo good w/ allergy issues as well, I hope she sees your post.

the atopica takes at least 60 days to really get in system. Also she has had the hypothyroid tests and apparently not thyroid as many times hypothyroid and skin issues go hand in hand as well as liver disease as dd has mvd and hypothyroid and severe atopic dermatitis Allergies are the worst it is such a life long narrowing down process and just when you think you have it under control something else happens - it is heart breaking to see a dog itch alot my heart breaks for anyone having to deal with it as i have been dealing with it for 5 years and analyze it to death and still get stumped the best thing is to try to manage it as best you can des are you using temarilp along with atopica? you may have to do 1/2 tab every other day along with the atopica and wean back after the summer months ;( it stinks and i hate drugs but unfortunately sometimes they are the only thing to get immediate relief for the dog - i hate having to do it but atopica did not work for dd as she was throwing it up after a year so now i do minimal steroids 1/2 tab temarilp every other day and do blood work every 6 mos. Her blood work has been normal but she just could not tolerate atopica and did not want to put an antivomitting drug in her another drug to stop a drug making her vomit i said enough is enough she gets the temaril at least it is only one drug and she was on temarilp while on atopica as well she is really bad sadly | |

Btw, for dogs w/ tummy issues on Atopica --- even though you're supposed to give w/out food - my Derm had me give it with food from the very beginning. Marcel is about 3.3 lbs - so even the smallest pill is a bit big of a dose for his weight - so she said give it w/ food instead. She also has tummy issue dogs (of any size) give it w/ food as well. Marcel hasn't had a single tummy issue, so I was really relieved.
