| I'm kinda worried... any advice? Last Monday I woke up and noticed that Tobie's left eye wasn't open all the way and that there was some yellow discharge in the corner. I called the vet as soon as they opened and took him in. She looked it over and said that it looked like an eye infection and gave me some eye drops and some amoxicillin (because he had been sneezing a bit). I have been giving him both and his eye has cleared up and looks great. Well, the past couple of nights he has been making a weird sound. It wakes me up out of my sleep (it's not real loud, I'm just a light sleeper) so I don't get a good listen to it. I'm not sure if its a cough or inverted sneezing. He has only been doing it at night though. Then today, I noticed a booger on his nose and he has been sneezing. However, he is not acting any different (just as much energy as normal) and he is eating and drinking as normal. I really can't afford to keep taking him to the vet - we have gone three weeks in a row, the first 2 for shots and the last for the eye infection. When should I really start to worry? Is there anything I should try first? He was supposed to stop taking the amoxicillin yesterday but I continued it for today because he is still sneezing... oh, btw, the sneezing did stop this past week and has started again today. TIA!

BTW, most vets do rechecks either no charge or for much less than the initial office visit. | |

| Did Tobie get a kennel cough shot (or inhaled powder) within the last 2 weeks? If so, that could be giving him the symptoms of kennel cough but it should go away without causing any real problems. That's what my vet told me last year but check with your vet just to be sure. |

| Yes he sure did and that thought crossed my mind. Kinda like when we get the flu shot. He got that shot the week before I took him in for the eye infection. Actually, less than a week... about 5 days.

| That might just be it then. You should bring that up to your vet and see what they say just to be sure...wouldn't want to overlook and not medicate if it could be something else. Good luck...I hope Tobie feels better soon. |

| Have you checked his nose to see if it's warm and dry or cool and damp? I always feel their noses and if it's warm, I take the temp. normal temp for a dog is [FONT=Arial] 101 to 102.5. Just make sure you have their thermometer other than right next to your own. Hope he gets feeling better |
