Been there, done that with Missy for the first few weeks she was home. It's scarey isn't it? I'm sure glad that you noticed and that Curly is OK. Keep an eye on her please!

So how did she do over night? Just to be safe give her a little something as a bed time treat every night. She's still so young and little. There's always a possibility that after the NutriCal, if she doesn't eat something, that her sugar may plummet again. I know you said you free feed...but often times they don't eat enough...be sure she is eating frequently, especially after playing hard, before bed and upon waking. Good luck and I hope you NEVER have to witness this again.

Thanks everyone. Curly seems good to go today. I'm still keeping and eye on her and I made her special biscuits this morning and let her gobble one up with honey on it. She loves that. My little boy also shared his granola. I'm really not sure why we even bother buying her food. She loves ours!
Anyway, thanks again for the help and concern. I'll definitely be on my toes now!

Same thing happened here. The day that it did happen, Silvia was napping on the couch beside me and when I got up, I noticed she didn't jump up and want to go with me like she normally did. I called her name and she opened her eyes, but she still didn't move. I picked up her little paw and let it drop and she still didn't move. As you can imagine, I freaked out!

Thank God the breeder had told me to be prepared for such a thing and had even given me a small bottle of Karo syrup, which I quickly got and put on my fingers for Silvia to lick off. After about a capful, she got up and walked to me, so I took her to her crate and gave her some food and water. Ever since then, we have free fed her, because she is still very small and I worry about her not having access to food when we're not home (both work full-time). She doesn't eat much, so it's worked out, and food is always available for her. I was also worried about it reoccuring, but thankfully, it never has.

We used the nutracal with our first one...........b/c she would have low blood sugars. However with our second one I have favored using yogurt in am and pm and we haven't had any low blood sugar episodes using this method. Again......we used the yogurt as a prevention, not as a treatment for a low blood sugar. It is always better to avoid low blood sugars if you can. Also, I def. agreed, when treating for a low blood sugar with nutralcal/honey etc. always follow up with food, it helps to prevent a rebound effect that would present with another low blood sugard episode. One other thing, if your puppy is not responding enough to lick/eat and you think it is a low blood sugar, take jelly/honey etc and rub it on her/his gums, they will absorb some of it that way also.
