| Thanks for posting this questions and thanks for all the answers. I was wondering the same thing about my Bella girl! She is going to the vet on Monday to get her teeth checked because all of her canines are double. I have been checking on them and they are still pretty tight in there. So I guess they are going to tell me its time to pull them They are also giving her the dental shot, which I have heard is great. Its given once then boosted 3-4 weeks later. She will be getting her 2nd one on Monday at her checkup. The vet did mention that it does sometimes cause a little pain to them, but they offer pain medications. She was spayed when they gave her the 1st one, so she was already on pain meds. I think I will get one dose of pain meds just in case she is feeling a little off on Monday! I'll keep you posted on how she does!...

| Great question... we are facing the same issue with Remy. He is 7 months (will be 8 at the end of this month). We got him at 6 months - and he had 4 double teeth - he recently lost one - now only has 3... wondering if I should let things play out a bit more and see if the others naturally come out or if I should go ahead and get them pulled ???? I am worried about the anesthetic and if he did not need to go through that, I would think that is better - however I don't want him to have an infection because they are still in there I am getting one of the finger toothbrushes so I can do a better job keeping his teeth clean |

| Roxie had atleast 3 or 4 pulled; I honestly can't remember. I do know that my neighbor told me to expect me to find her little baby teeth all over the house, I never found any! The vet also did a thorough teeth cleaning while she was under, Roxie was wide awake and ready to play a couple hours after she got home. |

| Oh, and Roxie was 2 when we had them pulled. The vet said there was no way she was going to lose them naturally... |

| Hi, I am new to owning a Yorkie, (we used to have German Shepherds when I was in the U.K.) and would like to ask about tooth care for Yorkies and also about neutering. Firstly, is it necessary to clean their teeth daily? Could somebody please explain about baby teeth falling out - do they not grow adult teeth? Or can somebody recommend a good website for this information? The second question is about neutering. Is this recommended and if so why? Thanks for bearing with me all. |

| Our little girl had 2 rows and I always felt nervous putting her under too. The vet told us they must come out and will not fall out on their own but wait until we spay her. Well, we were not sure if we would mate her and hesitated on the surgery. Sure enough 2 fell out (the longest roots I have ever seen) on their own, it took another few years for the others to fall out naturally. I think we were just lucky though, she has gorgeous teeth and now only a single row! |

) It prevents pregnancies from happening by accident! It usually prevents marking and leg lifting in males so they don't mark all over your house. It helps so that they don't roam out looking for a female in heat if they get outside. It also makes it so that they are totally free of getting testicular cancer. And usually, it just makes for a better, calmer dog.

| Thanks Britster, would you try and get the teeth pulled at the same time as neutering so they only need one anesthetic? What age do the teeth pose a problem or need to get checked? |

| That's what I did! Jackson is home right now re-cooping from his neuter, he's really groggy and out of it, and he had 4 teeth pulled. It makes it easier so they just have to go under once and get it all done at once. Microchipping was done as well.

| Zoë had 3 baby teeth that never came out (her front canines). Of course she had no double teeth at her spay and the minute she was back to fine she got double teeth in! At her vet visit last week I sadly had to schedule her for getting those 3 extracted and a cleaning next week even though she's only 11 months old. Me and the vet figured if they hadn't come out by now they weren't going to and a cleaning would cost only $15 extra and certainly wouldn't hurt. (Getting them removed was going to cost me between $300-$400! ) I was just feeling really guilty and sad about having to put her under anesthesia just to get her teeth pulled, even though I knew that was the right thing to do. Out of NO WHERE I see blood on her beard/chin just now. I FREAK OUT and look at her mouth as my first thought of where it was coming from. A tooth came out! And one of her remaining 2 double fangs is loose too! For months they weren't budging and weren't even the slightest bit loose. And all of a sudden one fell out and the other is loose! So to those that were in the same boat of us, already had their baby spayed and then had double fangs there may just be hope! I just had to share our good news!

| YEa for ZOE..... no more anesthesia...... good for her.. and ofcourse your pocketbook... They are so cute when the little front teeth are missing, just like a little kid... both of mine have lost the fronts but nothing else so far. He will be neutered in a few days so we'l see.. ttfn
