| Pencil Legs My little guy is so thin I have been trying to fatten him up but he just doesn't seem to gain weight. I spent all week feeding him cheese and little snacks(along with regular food)and he didn't gain an ounce. He is happy and healthy for the most part but I really think he is too thin. Today when I was holding him while watching TV, I really was looking at him hard and even though I knew he was little , kept thinking how his legs were no larger then a No. 2 pencil. I totally started freaking out after this thinking how really fragile he was . Of course i knew he was fragile from the beginning but after comparing his legs to pencils I started panicking , thinking how easily a pencil can snap. Anywho.... any suggestions for fattening up a skinny little boy in a healthy manner. I'm sure the added cheese and pork bites taste good but I can't imagine it's too healthy. |

| I've never had any problem fattening mine up! I'm certain we have people on here that could help you more than I can. I could throw a suggestion out there and that might be to add boiled chicken to his diet. How much does your little one weigh?

| Is he underweight? Can you feel his lower ribs and/or see them? I think they're supposed to have a little layer of fat over their ribs. Maybe you can talk to your vet about how to fatten him up? I would try feeding him wet food on top of the dry for a little while, but you should definitely ask your vet.

| We had a vet check about a week and a half ago and the vetreally didn't comment. he is not showing alot of ribs yet, but just a hairs breath away from it. You can see the rib cage but not quite the emaciated look where you see each and everyrib. Whenever I would get a rescue like this I could usually fatten them up within a week to looking more healthy , but this little stinker just won't gain. |

| Has the vet checked him for thyroid problems? I would put him onto Moor Gold, this sorts out all problems and balances a dogs body. My Yorkie had lots of problems, colitis, bladder weakness, vomiting, poor appetite and digestion. As soon as I started Moor Gold he was a different dog. Go to www.doghealth.co.uk and see for yourself. |
