| Oh gees, I just read this post and all the way through it broke my heart. But is so truely nice how so many people are willing to help. And that there are people, schools, and companies that are willing to help fund for such an expense. And you are a wonderful mom - Indy has it so good with you! Good luck to both of you for the surgery! I'm sure that Indy will do just fine. Please keep us informed, and by golly..... give your mom a big hug and kiss from me and Deegan for being so wonderful! She's a great mom too!

OOPS, I didn't mean to get up on my soapbox, but, once again, I did! Terri Shumsky who died recently, was such a wonderful person and worked so hard to help find the gene that causes PSS. That was her contribution and she was the driving force in the FannieMae livershunt research. They try to help PSS babies when they can. Good Luck and I will say extra prayers for you and yours. | |

| I believe Ric is trying to catch you but if he misses please call or email me. We are both on http://www.tsfannymaelivershunt.com/ and help yorkie owners that have bought puppies that need both treatment options and funding. Our goal is to have all yorkie puppies bile acid tested before damage is done since so many can be saved by surgery. Breeders should bile acid test their puppies-- There is no excuse for not doing so. I've been testing now for 5 years-- including even the itty-bits. No breeder can say they don't have a problem until they test every puppy. | I am so sorry about your Indy, but as I read the thread I see things are looking up. What would we do without our Mom's. I will be praying for your little furbaby. Take care.

| I wanted to share my story of Liver Shunt....I have two babies that ended up with Liver Shunt ~ Willis and Cassie. They came from the SAME breeder but had different parents....they both had liver shunts.... We found The "Terri Shumsky Fanny Mae Liver Shunt Fund"....they saved our babies. Of course, we thought we had two healthy babies...but it doesn't always turn out that way. We drove from our home in Mississippi all the way to Knoxville, Tennessee to have their Liver Shunt surgeries.....that was back in February. We were a little different, though....our babies were pretty much completely healthy and showing almost no symptoms. Willis was showing symptoms of low blood sugar....Cassie has never been sick at all. We just decided to have her tested "just in case"....It turns out that on the 'inside', they were horribly sick....If your Indy has this life saving surgery, you won't believe the change....it's a miracle surgery...expecially if it's a PSS....of course, MVD is treated with medications and diet. In the meantime, make sure that Indy is on Hills L/D or K/D ONLY and Lactulose....please do this!!! It's VERY important!!! Protein is VERY bad for these liver shunt babies....it makes them so sick....please listen to me. Also, please join our group... These people know what they are talking about!! I'll do my best to include links in this message. Please read Willis and Cassie's story....we've been through it and back again, but our babies are ALIVE!!! Hugs and belly rubs!!
