| Help with wiggling teeth! bambi always been having problem with tartar buildups, and i'm guilty of not brushing his teeth enough (he gets very angry when we do it)...now..we found that one of his tooth (small one next to his canine tooth) is wiggling, with tartar near its roots. What shall i do? can it be saved? should i brush it more or will it just make it fall faster? or should i have it pulled or let it fall off naturally? is it ok that he swallows it? any advice will be appreciated!!

| That happened with Ellie also. He needs to have it removed...oral surgery. They may do xrays and pull other ones also. With the plaque build up and risk of bacteria spreading to his heart, liver, kidneys and lungs, it shouldn't be let go. Sometimes antibiotics are given before surgery to keep infection risk down and they should be given after.

| I've seen 4 yr old poodles w/ very bad teeth. Tartar build up, some teeth missin'. Heard that we should clean our babie's teeth every year, but it's under anestisia (isofluorine). Some groomers clean teeth for $75+. I would start brushing Bambi's teeth everyday (if he were mine) w/Petzlife, they have spray & gel form. Try finger brushes w/the gel, if he hates those, try the spray. As for the wiggling tooth, I would take him to the vet...if serious, it could lead to peridontal disease. The bacteria can run through the blood to the heart.

| We just saw the vet today for his annual exam. She only said we can either surgically remove it or it will probalby fall out itself...so i didn't think too much at the vet and decided to do my own research. We actually do give both dogs professional teeth cleaning about every 6 months (it's unbelievable how fast bambi builds up tartar compared to my maltese!) I will try Petzlife and brush more! Thanks for the advice!!
