| Something may be wrong with Kobe's nail... Today I noticed Kobe limping on his left paw. When I attempted to hold and examine it he quickly tensed and tried to free his paw from my hand. I noticed that his THUMB nail was very long and it curved; that seemed to be the nail that he didn't want me to touch. But I noticed something weird: His right paw doesn't have a THUMB NAIL...only HIS LEFT PAW. I grabbed the nail clippers and trimmed it down a bit (not much, because he was in pain and I'm a big crybaby when it comes to him ), but he still seems to be a little sad. Do you think it's just that nail or could it be something worse?? He doesn't flinch until I reach his nail. |

| poor baby hmm thats strange..you did clip the nail right? I was going to say I have seen dogs nails that are so long they are poking the pads....just check his paw over and look in the middle of all this little nails and make sure there isnt something in there, and on the bottom of his pad..if he is still limping tomorrow i would go get him checked out, maybe he jumped off something and hurt his leg....

| You are talking about his dew claws They can catch of things and are usually removed when their tails are docked. I had Doodlebug and Bogey's removed when they were neutered. It required stitches but I felt it was for their benefit to have them removed.

Dew claws??? I'm sorry, but I'm not as bright as all you other yorkie mom's on here! I will go straight to google to research! On his right hand though, he has four fingers (lol, I hope I'm making sense) and on his left 5 (the 5th finger is his thumb). That's so odd!!!! So someone took one thumb off and not the other!!??? Ok, now I'm worried! | |
