| Eating everything she can find.... Hey everyone. My Izabella is now a little over a year old. Her birthday was january 9. My problem is that she eats everything. I mean...she goes around looking for stuff to eat. She will go along the wall and along the floor and under the table looking for anything to eat, dust bunnies, paper(she loves paper) cloth, string, anything...I dont know why she does this. I feed her very well...well...I feed her kibble twice a day. Like a couple days ago she ate a scrunchie...and I was freaking out. I considered calling the vet if she started acting funny but she passed it the next evening. I just dont know how to stop her from scavenging for food. I am kinda worried that she will end up eating something really bad and hurting herself. what should I do? Has anyone else had this problem |

| I would suggest a good trainer to help you show her what is hers and what is not so she knows what she can eat and what she can't. There was a Dog Whisperer episode about this if you can maybe catch the rerun. If I remember correctly when the dog would try to eat something that she was not allowed or dangerous Cesar would correct her (make the SHH sound) and when she ignored it and left it alone he would treat her. She eventually learned to ignore what was not hers to eat. You could try that I suppose..

| I dogsat a little Yorkie girl for 10 days and she was like yours. She is one year and two months old. She goes around the floor snooping for some thing to eat all the time and she eats everything even cords so I had to be really careful with her. For this little girl, it is because she was bored so with a lot of acitivities and exercise while she was staying with us, it helps. I brought her out multiple times a day for short walks and play a lot at home and she stopped looking for things to eat off the floor. I think it will help if you stimulate her mind with play and activities and walks and outings whenever possible and also draw boundaries at the same time letting her know what she can eat and what she cannot eat. I think it would be a little difficult to practice only on the discipline part if their not stimulated.
