What age to start Petzlife?

I know Buddy is larger than most of your pups however his teeth
are really beautiful. Not one speck of anything except healthy
white teeth and gums. I have been using this product for around
4yrs and he is now 5yrs old. If a product works this good, I for
one, will not stop using it. He's healthy as a horse as well.

Carol, this was one of my concerns with Yorkies, they are prone to tartar problems, and reading your success with Petzlife really eased my mine, so far so good with Joey. You want to find a product that "one" is safe, and "two" actually works.

I'm concerned some people think this would be more likely to cause problems with a small dog than a larger dog. Remember, this product is given in a "dosage" form. Small dogs have smaller mouth/teeth, and less is needed. Any medicine would be unsafe for small dogs if you gave them the amount prescribed for larger dogs.

The only time a smaller breed would have a problem over a larger breed is when one size fits all. For example, certain foods, say that they have indigestible parts no "bigger than a grain of rice". A yorkie with his smaller intestines would be more likely to have problems with an obstruction than a larger breed.

use it as a toothpaste, thus not following the directions at all.
This, I can see, possibly causing a problem since the amount being used
it wayyyyyyyyyy over the dosage. I wouldn't use it if I thought it would
make Bud sick. It is more frightening to me to put him under and have
them cleaned. It breaks my heart to read someone's pet never woke up.
I have tried "Cool N Clear". I read where some recommed it. I bought
it and believe it or not Buddy threw up the two times I used it.
I waited a couple of weeks used it again and yep he threw up again.
I have a full bottle if anyone is interested. All you have to do is pay
the shipping.
If it isn't broke don't fix it! LOL

As far as Cool and Clear, there is no evidence it does anything for tartar, and the manufacture just says it will "freshen breath", it makes no claims that it will reduce tartar. Unfortunately, some of the people who sell the product make these claims, and I think in a few years time, people are going to be sadly disappointed when their dog's teeth need to be pulled. So we have a product that one isn't effective and two may cause vomiting in some dogs.

I know I'm a few months late on this thread, but found it by searching petzlife. I think I may be one of the ones who has been unknowingly using it wrong

So, if it's not supposed to be used as a toothpast, do you apply it and then use a "toothpaste"? I'm confused. If so, which toothpaste would you recommend. Also, how much of the petzlife are you supposed to really use. I always thought a pea sized drop was correct.

I put about half a pea size (for her whole mouth) on the toothbrush and just brush her teeth. I do this 2x a week... I think I need to up it because she might be a yorkie that is just prone to tartar.

When it comes to toothpaste I use probably two pea size amounts. I do this every night that I don't use Petzlife.

You are supposed to withhold food and water for 30 min before and after for the most effectiveness.

Twix won't allow me to brush his teeth. How do you guys do it? My husband and I have to chase him around and hold him down to brush his teeth.
