| I agree. Wiggle those little suckers as often as they will let you. They'll work loose. Our little Roxy! had double canines for a while, but we kept wiggling them and they (the baby teeth) came out.

| My girl, Maisie, who is nearly 7 months old now, has exactly the same tooth problem. The baby canine behind the adult one. I'm hoping to get her spayed some time in the next few weeks so they'll just be pulled them at the same time. I think she's pretty much finished teething now so they'll be the last to come out I reckon. Jess |

| Starla, you have some time, but I wouldn't wait too long. If you wait until a year and the teeth are moved because of the extra baby tooth, chances are that when they remove the baby tooth, the adult teeth will stay in the position they are in.. So if the teeth are moved out of alignment, they will stay out of alignment. Rainbow has one like that and she had the baby teeth pulled at 8 months old. Now her permanemt tooth on one side is out of alignment

| most vets will say wait till 1 year to see if the fall out on their own. It kind of depends on the vet.

| My Mocha is in the same boat as Lexi! At his recent annual check-up, the vet noticed his double canines and told me they should be extracted. Like you, I'm really nervous about putting him under anesthesia again (he's only 3lbs). Mocha is 1 1/2 years old, so the vet said I can book the appointment any time, but I'm still unsure if I should go through with it Do you know if this is something that's really neccessary, or would it be ok to leave it? Do you know what you're going to do if you have to make that decision? Quote:

Mine had terrible breath when he had all 4 and my vet told me about pet oral care. I love this stuff, you mix it with their water. Petkin Liquid Oral Care at PETCO

She doesn't let me touch them, really, but from the little I've felt, I don't think they are loose. After reading the other posts, I will check again, and if they seem loose at all, I will try to work on them every day. I just don't know what I will decide, and I guess what I hear from the vet will help me in making my decision. Good luck to you!

| My baby's breath didn't have a bad stink when she had her retained puppy teeth. Some fell out on their own, some with a little help. Then she was down to 5 teeth. After she got 3 out of 5 pulled (that's another story I'll not make you suffer through reading), the very first chance I got to be near her open mouth, it was REALLLLLLY stinky. I thought she had been extra vigilant in cleaning our cat's behind as it smelled like part kitty droppings and part "bloody" breath. As it turned out, it was the one tiny tooth the incompetent vet left at the front which kept wrapping fabric string/lint around it almost as soon as she returned from her dental work (it was impossible to remove all of especially with her squirming). The gum around there was inflamed and it was definitely diseased and my finger always came out stinking of tarter and blood. Thankfully, after another round of dental surgery, it IMMEDIATELY fixed the breath and gum problem. BUT the price paid for having not gotten it done properly the first time around, then having to do this 2nd time a month later was the loss of 2 ADULT teeth. She was about 10 and 11 months when she got her dentals at 5.5 to ounces shy of 6 lbs. Depending on your baby's growth, it might not always work out for the better to wait it out but it's a per case judgement call. |
