So, does anybody know how Revolution (selamectin) compares to Frontline? I haven't seen anybody mention it yet. Thanks. |

I use heartworm pills and I divide one pack of frontline between my two boys per my vets instructions. Have never had a problem.:):animal36 |
Advantage and Interceptor My vet recommended interceptor for heart worms and advantage for fleas. They didn't want me to start him on any of it until he was over 2 lbs. They also mentioned Sentinel, but he vet he saw Monday said that it's only got flea birth control in it and I would still need a topical flea treatment. I explained that because of his size, he hasn't been outside at all. (We use potty pads) and it's cold right now. She said that we can bring fleas in on our shoes and clothes from pets and animals outside, so she still recommends year round flea preventative. What should I do? We live in Tennessee so we do have cold winters but warm summers. Amazingly, we actually found a one flea on him yesterday! I couldn't believe it! We have been so careful, so now I think she may be right, but I am so uncomfortable using those topical flea treatments. Any suggestions? Also, what about interceptor? Does anyone use it? Any problems or issues? She also mentioned Capstar? I have used this on my large outside dog, but I wasn't sure about a 2.4 lb. yorkie. Thanks for your help and suggestions. |
I am so supprised by this topic. Its scary because I want my izzy to live as long as she can and I dont want to give her things that will harm her or make her sick. She takes frontline and heartgard. And I give it to her every single month. Now I have wondered why is it that frontline says on the box that it lasts for three months and yet you have to administer it every month. hmm... |
I live in michigan too. And I was advised to give izzy frontline all throughout the winter. I didnt want to but I did. The winters here are bad. There are days when its below zero and tons of snow. I take izzy out but I assumed that the fleas would be dead in the cold. But like today its super warm there are bugs and flies out so Im sure there are fleas out. These are the days when I worry about fleas and also in the summer. I want a safer alternative but I dont want my dog and my home and family at risk. I wonder if anyone has tried to only use frontline every three months and how did it work. Did it effectively kill the fleas every month until it was reapplied? I was considering doing this. I also take her out a lot in the summer to parks and I also take her to the groomer. EEk..she could get a flea there...sooo....:( it seems to be a loose loose situation. |

Hi . . . Did your vet ever contact you about the article for the Frontline? |
I found more articles about FRONTLINE!!!! Look What I FOUND . . . What can we use that will work besides this horrible poison? I am going to look for something all natural. Its hard to find things on the internet with so many scams out there. Anyone have any experience with an all natural product that actually works? 1) Danger of Chemical Pest Control Products - safe alternatives "Pesticides such as Frontline, Zodiac, Defend, Bio Spot, Adams and Advantage trigger adverse reactions in dogs and cats, shorten life spans, cause terminal illness, and premature death." 2) Dog sick after Frontline? Any advice? "my border collie died from frontline I would go to a vet asap The company that makes frontline told me (after paying my 1000 dollar vet bill)that some collie breeds react badly to it Jayne" 3) Frontline killed my dog - Dog Health Forum " Poster by Annie- Pet lovers beware. I put Frontline on my Annie on Monday (not the first time), and today (Saturday) she is dead. " 4) [Page 15] Frontline killed my dog - Dog Health Forum " Posted by Sasha Baby- My Vet didn't run test when Petey started having seizures from the Frontline. We knew it was frontline when it happen 20 mins after I applied it and he went crazy. We just knew. I truly believe that Frontline killed this dog. It was an allergic reaction, just like anyone or any dog can get. Every time I give anyone of my dogs meds- if they have had it before or not I watch them over a period of time to make sure they don't have or they haven't develop a reaction to it." |
heatherlee143, it's clear you're very concerned about this issue. Can I ask why you think a natural product would be better? Tree tea oil, for instance, is natural, but it's bad for fleas AND pets. Personally, I am more comfortable with something that people who study pet medicine recommend. As you state, anyone can put something on the internet, so honestly, if three owners out of the hundreds of thousands out there think Frontline is bad for their dog, I'd say that's a good ratio. Nothing is always good for you - you can even die from drinking too much water! |
hey everyone, i use frontline as well monthly. i just saw the label and it says it contains 9.8% fipronil ingredient. What is the next alternative ...I walk soffi alot and need a good guard for her but right now i am immediately stopping use of frontline. Thanks for posting this info. |
I also cant find any info on this online. Is there any clear evidence that frontline is not ok for dogs? documented by news/reports? I would love to read more.. |
