| How to best guard against nasty TICKS!? What works the best?! The darn cat traipses through the forest and picks up ticks then generously hands them off to my Yorkies. They are getting ticks constantly! Got the most expensive collar for the cat and still.... ticks. Got a puppy flea/tick collar for my 5 month old Yorkie. I've heard Advantage is good but isn't that primarily to kill fleas? I won't share the details of the tick Jayla got on her rear end... When will this end?!

| Well, I think the kitty would become an indoor only cat first. Then I'd try Frontline on the pup. Advantix should work but the permethrin in it is dangerous to cats, so it isn't going to work for you. It also can make them feel like something is crawling on them and has been known to have some nasty side effects. Careful with the flea/tick collars. Quite a few of them are very dangerous.
