| 2 "Health" Questions about my Yorkie I'm learning so much from this site, thank you guys so much for your help- I just have two more questions about my lil York. 1. a. Should I be brushing her teeth? I've never heard of this before reading this site, I'm starting to feel like a "bad mom" because I didn't know half the things I know now when I got her 4 years ago, and I'm still discovering things... b. Will brushing her teeth help with her bad breath? Man, she wreaks havoc on my nose in the morning! Are there doggy mints I can get her? If so where- please and thanks! 2. Due to housing situations I sent Caamy to live with my sister for about a year and a half. Well, about 6 mos after they had her she had a bad eye injury- she ran into a stick in their back yard. They took her to the vet and did eye drops and everything is fine now, her vision isn't 100% but it's not bad either. BUT- she ALWAYS has eye gunk in that eye now. It is so bad, I don't know how to get it out. I made the mistake of trying "untangle" it and I'm positive it hurt her so I left it alone. When I get home I can try to post a pic- has anyone dealt with this? Should I leave it up to her groomer? Thank you guys! |

| It is best to brush teeth as often as possible...preferrably once a day. You can get dog mints but if her breath is that bad, she may have some tartar build-up and may need a dental. You can use eye wash (sterile water, not contact solution) but I would talk to the vet about it because she may still be irritated.

| Hmmm..what the heck is a dental? Is something I'd talk to the vet about? Her breath isn't *that* bad, I guess it's typical "dog breath" but it sure isn't minty fresh |

A dental is a teeth cleaning under anesthesia. Most Yorkies will need them anywhere from once to every six to twelve months. Are her teeth perfectly white all the way to the back of her mouth or is there any discoloration?

Now that you mention it- she does have discoloration on her k-9, the rest of her teeth are white. I'm gonna head to the vet's in a few days to try and get recommendations for a groomer so I'll just take her with me and see if she needs one. Thank you! | |
