1. a. Should I be brushing her teeth? Yes and no... I guess the real answer is yes, you should. But I have found that with proper nutrition you don't get the gum disease and build-up that you might on a lesser quality food.I've never heard of this before reading this site, I'm starting to feel like a "bad mom" because I didn't know half the things I know now when I got her 4 years ago, and I'm still discovering things...
b. Will brushing her teeth help with her bad breath? Probably not much. The bad breath can be caused by the build-up on the teeth, but mostly from the enzymes in the dogs mouth/stomach/GI tract... she may need a dental if her teeth are really bad, which yorkies are prone too, but also changing her diet may helpMan, she wreaks havoc on my nose in the morning! Are there doggy mints I can get her? If so where- please and thanks!
2. Due to housing situations I sent Caamy to live with my sister for about a year and a half. Well, about 6 mos after they had her she had a bad eye injury- she ran into a stick in their back yard. They took her to the vet and did eye drops and everything is fine now, her vision isn't 100% but it's not bad either. BUT- she ALWAYS has eye gunk in that eye now. It is so bad, I don't know how to get it out. I made the mistake of trying "untangle" it and I'm positive it hurt her so I left it alone. You really need to make sure and keep her eye clean. I clean my boys' eyes with a warm, wet washcloth everynight. Get the cloth wet with warm water and hold it to her eye until the gunk softens, then you can pick it out or if you're like me and don't like picking you can comb it out with a flea comb. I would make sure to do this nightly. When I get home I can try to post a pic- has anyone dealt with this? Should I leave it up to her groomer?
Thank you guys! | Good luck! |
