i switched this weekend from homecooking meals for sammy to the honest kitchen perference and raw. i bought the raw from a dog butcher who sells it right here on long island. he loves it! i am weening him off of the homecooked to the hk and raw. he seems to be taking it quite good. his poops are nice and hard and not too much of it. now, i am a bit confused on the directions of the hk. it says 1/4 cup up to 10 pounds and 1/4 cup of raw. so is that all is he supposed to eat is a 1/2 cup all day. they say to divide the mix in half. i thought it was too little, he is 7 lbs. any have any advice? do you also think i should buy a digestive thing for him? do you think i should be worried about him getting sick from the raw?

You can usually transition to raw without any problem. My girls each get 1/2 cup a day and they are both right around 5 lbs. THK has a couple supplements if you are concerned.

yes thk has some kind of digestive item, the lady in the store said i can buy. do you think that would be good for him, because of the raw. i mean he cant get salmonella from the raw meat, right? i just thought the small amount of meat, 1/4 cup for the entire day was so little, but i guess you are right.

I am kinda near you and the only store I found was in Glen Cove. That is why I order it on line. Do they have FORCE in the 10 lb box? And as far as I am concerned, Jodie (LuvMySissy) is a G-dsend. She helped me get my baby in good health. She is so sweet and knowledgeable, so take her advice, she steered me in the right direction.

Hi there, I wondered if you had considered cutting out the meat portion of his raw food. Sometimes dogs can't tolerate it like you think they should. I've always had dogs on raw food and they always love it and do terrific on it. Our raw, however, is vegetarian. Our dogs always live long, (15-20 yrs) healthy lives without much "to do" whatsoever. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Whatever it is, I hope your lil guy gets to feeling better real soon!
