| question about retina degeneration Hi, our Chunk is a 16lb chocolate yorkie and was diagnosed with retina degeneration at the age of 9 mos. He is now 20 mos and is pretty much completely blind. Would anyone out there know if chocolate yorkies are more prone to get this disease. I think I asked the Dr at the time of diagnosis but to be perfectly honest I think I was in shock I can't remember what she answered. Well anyway Chunk is so full of love and he does ok. We just have to take precautions with him so he doesn't injure himself. Chunk's mom A righteous man regards the life of his animal.... Proverbs 12:10 |

| Hi there!!! Paula (diggy4) told me about you and Chunk today and I, too, have one with retinal degeneration (PRA). She is 6 years old and was diagnosed a year ago. I was so sad and shocked and angry when I found out. I was told that it is a hereditary ailment BUT blind dogs are just as happy as those that can see. I researched and found the link below to be quite informative and also spoke with a trainer who suggested I start scent training Hallie. Veterinary Vision Animal Eye Specialists - Blind eyes Please PM me if you ever want to chat more about it. I can share my experiences over this past year. Chunk is so cute, I just love his face |
