| Chad, how awful for you and your wife! She looks so precious! We're going thru some stuff with our Indy right now too. He had the bile salts test last week and they came back high, now he's going to have an ultrasound done on the 31st to look for a liver shunt. His only sign is he has squinty eyes. He can see and actually plays with his eyes squinted half shut, the squinting comes and goes. My vet thinks is a CNS symptom of shunts or MVD. He's 6 months old and weighs 9lbs so he doesn't fit the doing poorly profile, he eats like a pig. I have a Jack Russell Terrier that has seizures, she acquired them a couple years ago, she's 9 now. She is on Phenobarbitol and does great. I had a shepherd/wolfhound cross that was on phenobarbitol her whole life. She was 15 when she died. She started seizuring when she was 8weeks old and would have one right after the other, counted 25 in one day. They put her on phenobarbitol and she was fine, maybe saw 1 seizure every 4 or 5 months. Hers were grand mal seizures and really scary, didn't know a dog could contort it's body so bad. I'll keep your little one in my prayers, take heart, it could be as simple as a medication or diet change! |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm just now seeing this post and I want to wish your baby ALL THE BEST and I hope they discover why she's seizing... I sure can't imagine your pain right now but wanted to say how sorry I am and I hope she gets better and comes home soon...I know certain illnesses are treatable.... but I can't offer any help with this - just know you have my prayers too for your Icee... and I really hope you have a good outcome with this....I really hope it's not as bad as it sounds - and after some of the replies I read - maybe it won't be ? big hugs to you, your wife...and Icee...Good luck ! |

| Thank you all for the kind words, Update: We took her to the vet who immediately referred us to LSU small animal clinic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We hoped in the car and were on our way without preparation. We got there ............and the tests began. Abdominal ultrasound of the liver, blood test, bile acids, cat scan, spinal fluid. Ill post a complete detailed of everything for those with the same problem, later. After all of this and $$ to the tune of +3,000$ they are not able to give any hard diagnosis. The only thing they have come up with is , there are 2 fluid sacks in the brain (they are supposed to be there) , i think they called them ventricles, and the one on the right side is SLIGHTLY compressed. This is not a fluid buildup, it's just compressed a bit, due to inflammation of the brain. This could be causing the seizures or the seizures could cause this pressure. Not sure on what came first. Trauma to the head is something that the doctors mentioned, Although there's no physical evidence of this. They also mentioned viral infection or some type of brain legion or tumor, even though the cat scan showed none of these. They briefly talked about a reaction to the vaccination as well, but....none of this has come back positive on any of the tests. As of now, our little Icee baby is doing fine. They complained that she wouldn't eat, but as soon as she seen us, i gave her some food, and she scarfed it down like there was no tomorrow. She was kinda out because of the drugs from being under, but she was very responsive. She missed us. We are home now for the night and will get up tomorrow morning and drive back. They are doing the secondary bile acids test tonight and we will get the results tomorrow. If they come back negative, there's basically nothing else they can do, and we'll prolly take her home then. If it's positive or elevated, they'll perform the shunt surgery. When they first took her into the emergency vet clinic, they put her on valume, which she had seizures the whole time. The last night of the clinic they switched her to phenobarbital and she hasn't seizured since. So we could take her home tomorrow and let the clinical signs determine her health. chad |

| Thank you so much for giving us the update on your little Icee. She sounds like such a special precious little girl. She surely missed you by showing you how she held off eating until you fed her, bless her heart. My heart goes out to you going through this all and Schatzie sends her hugs and well wishes to you and Icee. Thank you again for the update, please keep Icee's progress coming.

| Hello everyone, Icee is back home with us and is doing fine for now. They basically sent us home with no answers. He said she could rapidly deteriorate or she could continue to do better and better. We are so happy to have her back. She is doing well although she is very weak. I have all the paper work, and i will start typing up the complete report under a new topic, so it will be easily searchable. Thank you all for your prayers. chad |

| So glad to hear that Icee is home!! Hope the phenobarb works as good for her as it did my 2 dogs. Seizures are scary, but my vet says that there's really no pain involved, they just get confused because they don't know what's happening. Keep us posted! |
