| Dry or wet food? I was always under the assumption that wet(canned) dog food wasn't that good for dogs and caused bad breath and so on. We never really fed our dogs growing up canned food always just dry and they were always healthy and had great teeth and no health problems. My mom never really bought very expensive food either but now being on my own and having my own dog and doing research I see that better quality food is good for a dog. I am wondering though how many of you only feed the canned food? Do you mix it with kibble at all? I want Stormy to eat the dry food too but she really enjoys the canned. I bought her some of the Chicken Soup puppy cans and she just LOVED them. I have mixed a bit of kibble in it, I want to finish the bag I have and hopefully try a new kind since she doesn't really like it too much any more. She's on Royal Canine and she hasn't had any problems on it, she liked it at first and then recently got board with it. Is it okay to do both, is it healthy for her to eat the canned? I just thought I'd get some input! Also is Chicken Soup a good brand? Any recommendations will be appreciated! Oh and the reason she is on the Royal Canine is because the lady at the pet store suggested it and a yorkie breeder I talk to say thats what they feed their foods and it's good. | Canned is less processed than dry. Mine get canned in the mornings and I leave dry out all day. As long as you brush their teeth they are fine. Mine are going on 4 with no teeth problems or bad breath

| Ellie gets wet (homecooked). There is an endless debate about whether dry is really better for their teeth. The studies done on this are in question and their teeth need to be brushed no matter what they eat. Wet does have qualities that dry doesn't have like being less processed and providing more moisture.

| Well that is good to know. I really wanted to keep her on both. I brush her teeth, well started too she is still very scared of it, I don't think she's had them brushed before. I bought toothpaste for dogs and have a baby brush. For some strange reason since shes been on the wet too her breath isn't has bad or maybe it's because we've started brushing. |
