Default Dry or wet food?

I was always under the assumption that wet(canned) dog food wasn't that good for dogs and caused bad breath and so on. We never really fed our dogs growing up canned food always just dry and they were always healthy and had great teeth and no health problems. My mom never really bought very expensive food either but now being on my own and having my own dog and doing research I see that better quality food is good for a dog. I am wondering though how many of you only feed the canned food? Do you mix it with kibble at all? I want Stormy to eat the dry food too but she really enjoys the canned. I bought her some of the Chicken Soup puppy cans and she just LOVED them. I have mixed a bit of kibble in it, I want to finish the bag I have and hopefully try a new kind since she doesn't really like it too much any more. She's on Royal Canine and she hasn't had any problems on it, she liked it at first and then recently got board with it. Is it okay to do both, is it healthy for her to eat the canned? I just thought I'd get some input! Also is Chicken Soup a good brand? Any recommendations will be appreciated! Oh and the reason she is on the Royal Canine is because the lady at the pet store suggested it and a yorkie breeder I talk to say thats what they feed their foods and it's good.
