| Arched back I just noticed that my dog's back is a bit arched. It's not straight. Is this a genetical defect? Is there a way to fix this? He walks with an arched back. Ok, I just read that thread on roached backs. I paid $1500 for this dog with limited AKC papers. I think I paid too much for a dog with a flaw. What would you guys do?

how old is your dog? do you have pictures that you can post. it is possible that the breeder knew of this flaw and that's why it was sold with limited papers.

| I think that is call Roach back. Im not sure, but I think is genetic and there is nothing to fix it. Is not desirable in the breed. This is just as looks goes, doesnt affect the doggies health. |

| He was born on April 6th so over 4 months old now. I'll post some pictures when I get home. The contract says that I can get a new dog if a licensed vetrinarian finds a genetical defect. Also, her website says that she breeds for the standard. http://www.wee-r-yorkies.com/AboutMe.html Argh, so there is no way to fix that arch?

| Schatzie has been noticed by myself to have the "arched back" when she is in certain positions. If she is standing at a normal stance her back is noticeably straight and I feel no arch when touching her. It's only when she places herself into different positions. She is not threatened with any health issues due to this per her vet.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | there are roached back and then there's the shrimp back. With a roached back, the spine calcifies and is hard. Very noticible when they are walking. A shrimp back is more flexible and is only noticed when they are in certain positions. I've read on both. No, there is no way to fix a fault like this.
