| our Oliver got sick from the vet toothpaste made for pets he would vomit up yellowish foam from that..once we stopped so did the foam from his tummy... we use human herbal toothpaste on a cotton wash cloth and rub a very small amount over the teeth and gums (almost daily ) andhe is 11 years and his teeth are nice and white.. we also occassionally wipe his teeth and gums with warmed water and sea salt it is great for the gums ..but not enough for him to swallow.. just an alternative ..cause he can not tolerate most of the pet products. |

| i agree ...we are doing what we think is best for our bbykin based on the knowledge and experience we have and we are happy with it...alot of vets (not all vets) only know what they learned and that seems to be limited to a bag of this and chemicals for that ...when there are alot of alternatives out there.. |

| I know many vets carry this one and the board certified dentist did recommend this gel -- my vet does not like tooth brushes and recommends gauze and another girl on my maltese group uses nylons to brush the teeth -vet said many people brush the teeth to hard or it is hard to get back there on small dogs and tend to damage the gum tissue so be careful if using the brush. I use gauze as it is sterile and i now use the cet poultry but looking into the oxyfresh gel. but all of mine will get dentals yearly after my maltese had hers done but my yorkies do not have any loose teeth like she did so alot of can be genetics with gum disease as well think about it they have the same teeth and gums as us - if we did not have professional cleaning on our teeth and just brushed our teeth what would happen over time and dogs bodies age much faster than ours??? I get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year and there is tartar so why not get your dogs professional cleaned? Trust me i was so fearful of this too but after my demi losing 27 teeth and having bloodwork showing this I will never be negligent again with dentals due to fear of anesthesia. |

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's been using Petzlife for 1 1/2 years; the preventative dose is much less than the dose you need to drastically clean the teeth. To prevent tartar twice a week usage is enough, if your dog's teeth are already yellow, you need to use it daily for a month or so until tartar is gone. I think Petzlife is much safer than anesthesia, how many dogs have died going under anesthesia, and how many dogs have ever even gotten sick from Petzlife? You don't use a lot, and reports of it being unsafe are highly exaggerated in my opinion. At his last vet check, the vet said, I don't know what you are doing, but keep doing it, his teeth are in great condition. Remember the Petzlife "softens" tartar, and you need to brush it away. I also use Bully sticks because I think the chewing action "scapes" the teeth. Tartar is a serious problem and yorkies are prone to it, I don't think losing teeth should be seen as a "normal" thing, and I want to do everything I can to prevent this.
