| I would say trry a different food. My dogs eat Royal Canin min bites. An oatmeal shampoo would be good for the itching.

I Love Thor Donating Member | Costso's dog food I am glad to hear the positive things about Costco's dog food. My lad is on the lamb and rice formula and she loves it and so does my yorkie Thor. Since Thor is six months old now, my vet said I could switch him from puppy food to adult food, and I am still searching for the right food. I want it to be healthy, yummy, and help with his itching. I have had some great suggestions so far about good kinds of food. Their are some reall strong oppions on the Costco's dog food, reanging from really bad, to great, and in my personal experience it is great! |

| Just switched to Royal Canin and since I know that tends to put on the lbs. I am just feeding her less and she looks forward to it and seems to satisfy her longer.

| P. S. My vet thinks Bil Jac Frozen is like cocaine for dogs (they love it so much) and mine does and that's why I'm with Royal Canin. Although it does seem to put on weight it's nothing like Bil Jac. The Univ. of Pa. used to call us all the time to feed very ill dogs. They needed something to get them to eat that would be good for them. My previous two posts seem to contradict one a another. Just wanted to explain.

I Love Thor Donating Member | bil jac Do you know if bil jac if full of preservitives and artifical flavors? I want something that is very natural and not pumped up with a ton of preservitives, etc. I know I'm picky, I just want my little man to be healthy. |

| Lucy has Bakers Complete puppy/junior plus the adult meaty chunks. I have been told that it is not great for her, but it is that or nothing. We have tried all the vet recommended stuff and she refuses to eat anything else. With the itchyness, we were recommended to bath Lucy in a mild salt solution and it worked wonders, since we started doing it she has hardly scratched at all |

| I use Innova Puppy for Cooper and Carter. My daughter lives in North Carolina and they don't even have PetSmart or Petco here. I went with her today to purchase dog food for Sebastian at a small local petshop and they have Chicken Soup! That is another food that is on Whole Dog Journal's top list. The price was good too -- $6.89 for 6#. Lisa

have changed it some. Most of the dry foods have preservatives but some are better than others. I will not let my dog eat a food with by products and I won't even go into what that could intail. Since she is in Nevada I'm pretty sure she can't get the frozen (checked on that for someone else not too long ago )and I should not have brought it up except on an Ohio site. Oh well you mentioned Bil Jac and I have felt great about it but since the time I worked for them, I have found other good foods also. Solid Gold Is another I don't think we mentioned. www.jbpet.com has a good variety of top notch foods and most you can buy in the better pet stores. Could I ask you to quote this since she may want to look into others. Also I do feel you are what you eat (both human and animal) and since these dogs eat so little, it's not a hardship to feed the best. Like bleaming I feel Bil Jac is one of the best.

for a long time after Bil Jac to get her weight down. Now I hope this Royal Canin(lite) doesn't have her back to being a little "tub" again. She still could lose more weight but she didn't like the Nutro this past month for some reason.

| Thor is a great name! All you need to do is look at the list of ingredients and you can determine which are the best foods. If it doesn't sound like something you would eat then it's not good! There is a list out there that is created by the Whole Dog Journal every year. They don't take advertising and they list the best foods for the year. You might be able to find this list if you search google, but it's not listed on their website because you have to subscribe - since they take no paid advertisements that is the only way to make money. The problem is that Petsmart, Petco, and the grocery store don't sell the best foods. My 9 month old Loki had problems with diarrhea on Royal Canin. Now he is on Natural Balance Ultra Premium (only the "Ultra Premium" is on the list). I can get it at PetCo for about $8 for 2 months worth of food. I'm happy with it and it is a good quality food. Canidae and Innova are two of the best out there though. We will likely switch to one of those soon! Oh, and I have a nosey neighbor who is always trying to sell me BilJac. I just politely tell him that BilJac is NOT on the list :-) |

to sell anyone Bil Jac because since I was with them years ago; I know there is better. but when someone is happy with their food like our one member on the tread is and the dog is doing well, why discourage her. It's certainly better than buying something at a grocery store. I haven't worked for them in 20 yrs. so I wouldn't want to go out on a limb either way until I checked more but the frozen is an excellent food. They used to ship to breeders but are now keeping it local. I'm glad you were polite to your nosey neighbor!!

I Love Thor Donating Member | Thanks Erin! It's a big name for a little guy with a huge attitude! I'm not trying to be thick here, but is "frozen" a brand of food or is it a sub-brand of Bil Jac? Thanks to everyone's helpful hints... |
