Thor is a great name!
All you need to do is look at the list of ingredients and you can determine which are the best foods. If it doesn't sound like something you would eat then it's not good! There is a list out there that is created by the Whole Dog Journal every year. They don't take advertising and they list the best foods for the year. You might be able to find this list if you search google, but it's not listed on their website because you have to subscribe - since they take no paid advertisements that is the only way to make money.
The problem is that Petsmart, Petco, and the grocery store don't sell the best foods. My 9 month old Loki had problems with diarrhea on Royal Canin. Now he is on Natural Balance Ultra Premium (only the "Ultra Premium" is on the list). I can get it at PetCo for about $8 for 2 months worth of food. I'm happy with it and it is a good quality food. Canidae and Innova are two of the best out there though. We will likely switch to one of those soon!
Oh, and I have a nosey neighbor who is always trying to sell me BilJac. I just politely tell him that BilJac is NOT on the list :-) |
