| Vaccinations Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows about late vaccinations. The vaccination for bordetella was given a week or two late, would there be any risk factors for the yorkie? The vaccination should be given between 6-8 weeks but was given later by the breeder. Does that have any affect on the dog? |

That should be fine. It takes about 24 hours for that vaccine to get in the dogs system, and it lasts for 6 months. I don't usually get bordetella unless my dog is being boarded.....or groomed cuz its required at some places.....

| Six weeks is way too early to give any vaccine and eight weeks is questionable. The later the better and they don't need this one at all. They are at risk of getting kennel cough and possibly pneumonia secondary to that without the vaccine but it doesn't protect against all strains and the vaccine can actually cause kennel cough (supposedly it is supposed to be mild but that isn't always the case).
