| mad dog!! i have a 3 1/2 month old yorkie. there are times when he runs around like a mad dog! he runs around my dining room and living room, quite hyper and panting like crazy. it's like he's doing laps around a track. he'll do it 2-4 times, then stop and occasionally drink some water, then go at it again. he calms down eventually, but he usually does it when i let him out from the kitchen (i gate him in the kitchen sometimes). is this normal?? and why does he does this? thanks |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I actually LOVE IT when they do this. Wylie (4 yr old) doesn't do it as much anymore, but Marcel (1.75 yrs) does still get the zoomies and it just kills me. I think they just get wound up and OFF THEY GO!!!!!!

| It is normal specially when you just let him out of a confined space. It's like screaming "I'm free!!!"

| I always imagine that's what Twinkle is screaming when we let her out of her crate in the morning!* she does laps of the room, leaping off the back of the sofa and armchairs...then stops to shake one of her little cuddly toys to death and then carries on! After* about 15mins she's fast asleep in the middle of the rug! xxx

| LOL Mocha just finished doing this. She usually goes crazy with her toys like baby toys and my sister's bunny slippers (it's the perfect size for them, and it doesn't tear easily!), just RAVAGE those toys like she's a real tough dog, runs around with them, runs around some more, and falls asleep like she drops dead, usually right beside her pillows I think it's totally normal. Mocha + Lulu does this when I have just showered them the day before and don't take them out (I want the baths to last at least a day lol), I think it's more like their way of getting their own exercise.

| Hi Baxter does this outside now, He takes this time to dive bomb Zeke, Who just stands there and looks at Baxter like he is just this little Tazmanian Devil. LOL. The faster Baxter runs the harder he grunts with each step. Toooo funny.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Oh it's normal! We call it "crazy time" and they usually do it when I get home from work, and before bedtime, to release any leftover energy!
