I am so glad she is doing better! She must be a pretty tough little girl to get through it so well. I hope that her eyes continue to improve.

Did any of the other puppies from that breeder end up with distemper, since it sounds like she had it from the very beginning when you got her??

Actually, there were 4 pups in the litter - only mine was sick. She was the runt and they think perhaps during the first days of nursing she did not get enough of the colostrum (sp?) thus she did not get enough of the much needed antibodies from Mom. I took this puppy knowing it was sick but we thought it was just an upper respiratory infection. We know the breeder and she felt awful and offered to take her back but by then we had already fallen in love with her and didn't want a different puppy.
But things ended up okay - expensive but she is worth every penny.

I am surprised your vet did not do an initial all over health check on your new baby....checking eyes and ears is on the list of things to check! Your vet should have been able to see any abnormalities or issues going on in that baby's eyes when he looked in them....what did he tell you about the pups eyes!
