| Raw Feeders, I'm curious Maybe I have too much time on my hands right now but I have a question. For the raw eaters, how do you clean their faces after they eat so you can kiss their faces and not get sick? I don't mean how do you clean their mouths out because that is a long debate about it not being dangerous once it is in the mouth but what about on their fur?

Do baby wipes have something in them for that? Thanks for the response.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't clean their mouths at all, I didn't even in the beginning. Their mouths don't get messy either - but then, I don't feed prey model. But even if I give a bone for chewing, I just wipe them off. And, just to further gross everyone out - I really don't worry a whole lot about how much time has passed after they've eaten for their kisses either. There are a lot of things that are killed via it being frozen after all. I'm careful, but I'm just not that worried about it - to be honest. And I've never had a single problem with it. Also, there is FECAL MATTER all over our paper money (just to name one thing) - so, what are we gonna do? That grosses me out more than the raw meat....

I am very careful when doing things with meat though, especially chicken, so I can't even imagine Ellie eating it and then her hair going in my face. But now you have me thinking about the money and everytime I touch it now I will probably think "GIVE ME HAND SANITIZER".

| Sometimes TJ gets 'meat patties' stuck in the sides of his mouth hair, so when this happens I have to 'go to town' with the comb and wet wash cloth to get it out, but other than that, I am not worried about it. I am sure mine have pee and poop particles throughout their body hair, yet I still smooch them like crazy. |

| Jamie eats NV Raw Medallions and I tear them into small pieces before I put it down on a plate. To be honest with you, he just sticks his tongue out and gets the food (like a frog getting a fly) so he never really gets it on his face. I haven't ever gotten sick from it though. I DON'T let him kiss the baby (my neice) right after he's eaten though. It just seems to me that if there were germs, she may be more susceptable to them.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | LOL !!! Most raw feeders will freeze raw chicken bones before giving them bc they say it kills the salmonella. I guess I'd need to research at what temp salmonella dies. Although, they also say that most kibble tests positive for salmonella anyway, so it makes ya wonder. And, that pretty much all dog poo contains salmonella too, doesn't it? Where did we just see that published?

Isn't that nice. I really don't let Ellie around kibble anymore because a lot of it is contaminated. Anyone who feeds kibble should wash their hands after but most people don't know that.

| i use NV or Primal premade raw and I hand feed my girls. So they don't get messy at all. But I still wipe their faces with warm towel after each meal.

| Now I'm really grossed out that Ellie licks in certain places and then licks me. I mean, I thought of that before but now I'm thinking about all the bacteria in her fur. lol. I guess I should've thought of that 7 years ago. Oh well, I haven't gotten sick from it yet...
