I've been looking for somebody with this kind of problem! Walker does exactly the same thing: sneaks around, tail tucked, hides in corners, etc. His stomach "growled" and gurgled one day, now makes no sound but he keeps looking around at his tail and his weiner and sorta jabs his nose at it. This happened at least 2-3 times before and I know he drank water from the lake. So maybe that's the culprit? What kind of probiotics did you add to his food? And did changing to Wellness help? This has been going on for 2 days now and I'll take him to the vet by Friday if he's not better. I can't get any descend dog food where I live unless I drive 2 hrs.

Have you looked closely around his tail area to be sure that there is also not a skin issue going on in addition (around the base of the tail)?

, he ate some food. He's been a picky eater from the get-go and I'd rather not switch him around too much. Last night he only ate because I put warm beef broth on his kibbles. I'm so confused when it comes to dog food. Everybody says something different and as soon as I think I found something great, he either won't eat it or I read bad reviews about it. What to do....what to do?

| I'm so happy to have just joined and read this....My 5 month old puppy refuses to eat kibbles lately only boiled chicken breast. I had beem mixing it in with the Wellness puppy kibbles but he pushes the kibble aside and eats the chicken. So I was going to change to Royal Canin for yorkies since I had just received a pamphlet from them in the mail. I am at a loss becuase I know that he has to eat dry food for his teeth and gums. |

| HI, I read Wylie's Mom's reply and loved it. She nailed it. I just posted on my Buddy and his IBD but didn't mention a lot of things cause I was afraid of the 'dreaded' time out that always happens to me LOL. Now, I am laughing but I wasn't earlier as you all know. My Buddy, when having his digestive problems, IS IN PAIN. He goes off to a corner and just lies there--no appetite. Sometimes he shakes and acts spooked. I know those gurgling noises are pain. A probiotic is not going to help his pain though it will not hurt his immune system at all. When this happens to Buddy I immediately give him 1/2 a pepsid twice a day. I find that giving it to him before bed is very helpful. This is not what the holistic people call for and I don't like to do it, but after a while, it helps him. The pepsid takes care of any acidity and stops his pain. If he poops blood or mucous, I give him a low dose of flagyl for this side effect too. I don't have to do this too often but it does happen. Please check with a nutritionist or even your vet about a diet change if something is setting your pup off...he's getting older now so even food that he used to be able to eat COULD be hard for him to digest and absorb. | I occasionally have the same problem with my 6 lb. Maltese. Like you, I can hear her stomach actually screaming from across the room. It always happens when I give her a baby carrot treat before bedtime. I give her an eyedropper of Kaopectate and then two eyedroppers of water to wash it down. Within about an hour she is okay. My Yorkie is different...she has a stomach of steel....nothing bothers her. |

| when he Was a baby, Woody had that, the loud noises from his stomach and then dhirreah with clear jelly. It was Giarrdia, but after 5 rounds of antibiotics and the vet accusing me of 'not being clean' i did more research and found out why its caused and there are natural cures for it. there is something called 'Kocci free' from an comapny called 'amber technologies' i treated woody with 3 rounds for 10 days each (3 day break inbetween), 4 x per day, as instructed on the box. it was the only thing that cured his giarrdia. now the new puppy Mia has something going on in her digestive track, I am treating her and Woody. Since the medicine is all natural, it can be used as a preventative, since giarrdia is transfered thru the water, from one animal to another. I didn't want to start pumping my new puppy with antibiotics. Intestional/digestive upsets are common for young and old dogs. But don't mistake it, if the dog is really sick, not eating, peeing/pooping/playing and acting latharcic, see a vet immideatle. good luck! |

Woody was like that when he was a baby. But eventually I realized that he is not getting proper nutrition from people food. I switched him to a food called 'before grain buffalo' he loves it. its super good for him and its the only kibble he's ever eaten. Like the vet told me, WHEN THE DOG IS HUNGRY HE WILL EAT, even if he starves himself for a couple days, he can go up to 3 days without eating. My friend has a maltese 4 yrs old, and his regular pattern is that he starved himself for two days, then eats, and then goes another two days starving. some dogs are just like that. | |

| its not normal when dogs starve themselves; they are trying to tell you the food is no good. when the dog does that it's best to rest his/her digestive system. feed bland diet for few days and best if you switch to high quality food; preferrably raw. nothing worked for my girl; tried all different foods. after extensive research i gave aunt jeni's raw food a try; however i am slightly cooking it in the begining. my dog loves it and so far so good. it looks and smells like human food; real food. | She has had GI upset with the shaking before and has been on prescription food for many years she is only 8. But this is bad this time. She isn't eating or drinking. She is still going potty but she is just laying in bed next to me. I can hear her Timmy over the tv. I'm so worried. Any ideas to help her feel better until the vet opens? Also, thank you all for having us on your site. You all seem so kind. |
