| ![]() The 'best' food depends on him. ![]() I would start by doing some research with this site: Dog Food Review Ratings It will link you to information regarding commerical foods, home cooking, raw feeding and supplements. Also, there is a sticky at the top of the Health and Diet section that has the contact information for some of the more recommended (YT recommended anyway) brands. Many of them will send you samples or coupons if you contact them and request them. Do some trial and error runs with your little one and see which food(s) seem to be the best match. It will be evident when you have found a keeper from the results you see. Most importantly, when you try something new with him, do it gradually instead of all at once. ![]() Good luck and welcome to YT. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() No offense but I really feel you need to determine the cause of the seizures you mention in this thread. What you feed would be determined if he has liver issues...because a specific diet is required. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-seizures.html

| ![]() Yeah we had the vet take blood sample to check on his seizure and they said his liver is fine. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() Liver issues do not always show up in a blood panel...until there is significant damage done to the liver. I urge you to have a bile acid test performed.

| ![]() I'm also looking for the best dry food for my 4month yorkie. Is Nature's Variety Duck Meal and Turkey meal for all life stages advisable? Is it known to cause allergic reactions to puppies/dogs? TIA! |

| ![]() Hey, I use to use Iams, then went to Eukanuba, then Science Diet. After the dog food scare, I did some research and now I feed Canidea, plus I use a small amount of Nupro supplements. My vet told me that he has never seen a dog change and look this great. He said.. "whatever your doing, your doing it right". So maybe see if you can get a sample of it, it's also all natural. Oh, but my friend she mixes her dog food.. 1/2 Canidea and 1/2 Science Diet Puppy food. It's funny, but then it isn't, talk about trial and error anyways her 4 year old stud got fat from eating the puppy food, so now she has to walk him and put him on a diet.

| ![]() Wellness, Eagle Pack, Natures Variety Raw. If you do a search on high quality dog food you will get many suggestions! I prefer the no grain foods, but thats just me. Good Luck!

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() Hi there...my Sammy is 10 weeks old. When I got him for xmas I to was unsure what to feed him. I wanted him to have the healthiest diet possible. I did some research and decide to make my own food, which contains beef, carrots, rice and garlic. I also bought him kibble "Orijen" which from my research is one of the best. You can only buy it in a pet feed store not a grocery store. I tend to warm up the homemade food (I freeze it in weekly portions) and mix it with the kibble, usually for one meal. Kibble is in his bowl when he feels hungry. They do not eat much for sure. I also have a boxer (who needless to say eats quite a bit). Sammy tends to nibble on the boxers kibble also. I am not sure this is good for him but I am having trouble keeping him away from it. Yorkies seem to be quite picky but if you are going to feed kibble, which I believe is good for their teeth, you might want to try the Orijen. Good luck |

| ![]() Mine are eating Blue Buffalo right now but they do eat Buddy's Proplan Performance dog food frequently. When Lucky died I switched to Blue but I think I'm going to switch back to Proplan for all when their bag is almost gone. I have not seen a change really in them since the switch to Blue.

What do you feed the boxer if you don't think it is good for Sammy? If mine eat each others food it does not really matter to me. I feed them all a premium dog food. The girls eat Blue right now but will be switching back to Proplan for simplicity. They were on Proplan til after Lucky died so I switched them to Blue they seems to like it but now camp out next to Buddy to finish his bowl when he is done and he then finishes off there food.

| ![]() I believe YTCA recommends Royal Canine. www.grca.org- Supports feeding Proplan Ask 50 people what they feed their dogs and I would not be surprised if you don't get totally different answers. I would feed what ever you think is the best for your dog. My uncle feed his dog Ol Roy all her life and she lived to be 18. I would never feed it but his dog did well on it.
