| Puppy Weighing in at 5.9 Lbs at 6 months! Darwin is 6 months old today, and got weighed at the vet's, he's 5.7 lbs! A week ago he was only 5.5, is this type of weight gain normal? When do yorkies hit their weight plateau? Should I expect him to keep putting on weight? The breeder said 5-6 lbs when we picked him up, but he's about to surpass that at 6 months! I think I'm going to have a teapot on my hands... Last edited by sunamand; 08-04-2008 at 09:36 PM. |

| My puppy is similar to yours! The breeder said she would be 5lbs but shes almost 5 months old and already a little over 5lbs. She seems to be gaining weight quickly. At 9weeks old she was only 2lbs. |

| If you look at the Yorkie Puppy Growth Chart, they seem to slow down about 16 weeks. I am not sure how accurate that is and it also depends on how many treats they are getting...MMMMM

| Yeah - the puppy growth chart, darwin was way off the chart by the time I got him...hehe. He's adorable either way, but I'm bummed cause he already grew out of a couple of really cute outfits!! : ) |

| They do slow way down as they get older and they quit growing at around 10 months, althought they still will fill out after that. My guess is 61/2 to 7 pounds. That growth chart has been way off on all of mine. |

Perhaps, some continue to gain until they are one and some don't. Bud was 6.5 at six months. You never know. It depends on their structure also. Bud gained 1lb monthly until he reached 1yr old. But he's built big and muscular. I bet he's a cutie. Congratulations and good luck. | |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Hello, My new puppy Zoe is going to be 3 months on August 12th and she is 3 pounds. Her mom was 6 pounds and her dad was about 4.5 ... is there any way of determining what her weight may be when she is fully matured, and when they stop growing? THANKS |

| My yorkie was around 6 lbs at 6 months too, and he ended up around 11 lbs. He's the perfect weight for his size. He most definitely did not stop growing at 6 months. My maltese was 2.9 lbs at around 6 months, and she had a growth spurt at around 1 yr of age and ended up at around 4-4.5 lbs.
