My yorkie was around 6 lbs at 6 months too, and he ended up around 11 lbs. He's the perfect weight for his size. He most definitely did not stop growing at 6 months.
My maltese was 2.9 lbs at around 6 months, and she had a growth spurt at around 1 yr of age and ended up at around 4-4.5 lbs.
