| Heartworm pills Hi all, Have a quick question. My little guy is 11 months old. He has been on Heartgard for 5 months.... My vet wants to do a blood check for heart worm, and will not dispense any more heartgard. Do you think I should sign a waiver? Technically he was not protected for the first 12weeks of his life. Please give me your input... |

| I get mine tested every two years. My vet will also not give any medication if the test isn't done. I do not take any chances with my babies so I get them tested. |

| Same with my vet and the clinic I take them to. It is worth it to get the meds and is a simple blood test. I get it done once a year and only costs me $15 at the clinic. I really don't think once a year is too bad for peace of mind! I was also told that dogs are immune to heartworms up to the age of six months by a vet and do not need heartworm meds........how true that is, I don't know, but that's what I was told by a vet.

| But Chooie is only 11months old and he had been on it for 5 months. They want 50 bucks just to get the bloodwork. IDK what to do? I dont want to poke if the test is going to be negative. Technically he has been un-protected for 12 weeks when he was a puppy puppy and I didnt even have him in my posession. |

By the way, Ellie is on preventative for 7-8 months a year and gets tested once a year.
