Same with my vet and the clinic I take them to. It is worth it to get the meds and is a simple blood test. I get it done once a year and only costs me $15 at the clinic. I really don't think once a year is too bad for peace of mind!

I was also told that dogs are immune to heartworms up to the age of six months by a vet and do not need heartworm meds........how true that is, I don't know, but that's what I was told by a vet.
