| orijen + merricks i recently got my puppy at the age of 8 weeks and the breeder fed him orijen puppy . i continued with that and bought merricks puppy plate to mix in with the orijen since i heard it was very high in protein especially for a puppy . i also noticed that his poop was very soft but he still seems to enjoy it more than the merricks . he picks at the orijen and usually leaves the merricks in the bowl until he is hungry again to eat the rest of it . are there other options ? which food should i switch him to with a bit of lower protein ? i've heard many great reviews about the merricks but he doesn't seem to like it should canned food be recommended with it ? all your opionions would help , thanks . |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Personally, I think Orijen is one of the best kibbles on the market, hands down. There is nothing wrong w/ higher protein at all unless your dog has an issue w/ his liver/kidney/pancreas. If his stools are chronically too soft, then he needs to be checked for other things and I'd probably bring him in for a full fecal.

| coco started gaining weight on origen fresh fish, so i mix orijen fresh fish with natural balance potato and duck to balance out the fat content. he loves orijen, but will eat natural balance too. he empties his bowl every time. he gets the kibbles in the morning and NV raw medallions for dinner. you can get samples of some premium foods by emailing them. i think there's a sticky link here in the forum with info.
