| a bit of a problem with Jaxon's eating OK... so i am in DIRE need of some help with this situation.... My Jaxon (12 weeks) is happy, energetic and full of life. When I feed him he used to eat and drink JUST fine. NOW, he will not eat..just drink...and drink...and drink... and drink. I tried making him eat first before the water and that didnt work... he just looks at me. THEN i tried hand feeding him...that worked for about 2 days and now it doesnt. THEN i tried buting a few eukanuba pieces on the floor and he ate them off the floor...for about 2 days. Now that doesnt work. I have tried mixing treats in the food but he manages to eat all the treat pieces and not the food. IM SO CONFUSED! I feel like, if he didnt like the food he would have never eaten it (even from the breeder) so I don't know what to do but I know his eating of 15 or 20 eukanuba pebbles in the course of a day is NOT healthy at all .... I am trying to find a solution before taking him to the vet... I feel like he will just look at Jaxon and ramble off some stuff like "change his food".... HELP!!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry you are having problems with Jaxon's eating. I would say just try some different foods but the excessive drinking would concern me. I would take him to have that checked out. Is possibly drinking more because of the warmer weather? I hope you get some more suggestions and he starts eating better soon.

| I tried several different methods to get Bailey to eat when she refuses. Someone on another forum recommended organic baby food. So I bought [B]EARTH'S BEST ORGANIC COUNTRY DINNER -Made up of Beef, carrots & corn. I mix about a teaspoon in her kibbles and she loves it. Bailey has a history of colitis and she must eat everyday or she gets very loose stools. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Does he look skinny? You might try monitoring his weight closely and see if he's losing weight. If not, don't worry. Yorkies don't eat a heck of a lot of food. I feed mine a quarter cup of kibble twice a day, and he GAINS weight. Of course, some of that is due to the fact that he gets treats on top of that when he practices his obedience skills. But just because a dog doesn't wolf down his food doesn't mean he's sick. I have no advice about the water, though. That does seem unusual for him to be drinking that much. I'd check with the vet. One last thought: Mine were picky eaters, too, and I finally broke down and started adding a teaspoonful of high-quality canned (merrick) to their meals. Then they started wolfing it down. I just have to monitor their portions a lot more closely. Good luck. Be sure to let us know how it works out.

| Jaxon still isn't eating. I have tried different brands and all I am doing is wasting money buying food he is not going to eat. He just eats his treats (when he pees and poops) and drinks water... I DONT GET IT! He doesn't feel like he is getting thinner or anything but I know this is not healthy |

| Try cutting back on the treats...They're probably high in calories and are filling him up.
