| Wellness "just for puppy" and Wellness "small bites" are 2 dry foods we feed our dogs. I would agree that there is not a single food at Wal-Mart or Target that is good for your dog. Surprisingly we found that Costco does carry some very high quality dog food, it's worth a look. |

| If you aren't set on feeding kibble - please consider raw feeding. Nature's Variety, Primal, Stella and Chewy, BRAVO, Steve's Real Food are just a few of the brands that sell pre-packaged raw diets, taking the guesswork out of raw feeding. I adopted my Yorkie mix from the shelter and she was very, very sick when she came home. I credit the raw diet (and lots of TLC!) for saving her life. My Cavalier had extremely bad allergies and colitis. The raw has turned him around completely and he is healthy as can be. No matter what food you decide to feed, stay away from any foods that contain by-products, meat 'meal', ethoxyquin, butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), rendered meat and corn or any corn products. (Science Diet and Royal Canin are chock full of these ingredients btw) I am sure I am leaving some things out - but thats a good list of 'no-no's' to start with.
