| Dry Food Help! Hello everybody, my 5 moth old yorkie eats raw with a little bit of orijen kibble, people say that dry food is good to keep their teeth clean. Anyways, my local pet store wich was the only one that sold orijen has not had any puppy food for 3 weeks, I had to buy the large breed and she will not eat that one, tried to cut it in half because they're bigger kibbles and nothing...... My question is, Should I change her kibble brand? What would be the best brand and the best way to do it..... I hope you all can help me..... |

| I feed mine Royal Canin for Yokeshire Terriers, it supposedly is especially made for what yorkie's need nutritionally.

| Hi! My girls eat the Life's Abundance and they LOVE it!! It is made right there in Palm City, FL. It is delivered right to your door so no worries about running out and it saves gas too! The LA food is an all life stages which means it is formulated for puppies, adults and seniors. It is perfect in combination with the raw...just don't feed them together as they are digested differently. Whatever you decide to feed, make sure there is no corn, no wheat or soy, and no by-products. The Royal Canin has corn in it and many furbabies develop skin allergies from that. i do have free samples of the LA if you would like to try it. The kibbles are small and perfect for puppies tiny little mouths. If you change foods, just remember to transition very slowly from a week to 10 days ideally to help prevent any tummy upset that can occur if you switch them too quickly. Good luck with your baby!! |

Why not feed them together? Do you think I'm doing wrong by mixing my actual food now?

I have never fed raw but there are lots on here that do. I would suggest that you check on some of those threads using a search for RAW. I know you have to supplement if only feeding raw since it doesn't have everything in there that our babies need. Yes, it is made right there in Palm City...you would get super fresh food!!! How lucky are you!! It takes 4 days to get to Texas but it is worth the wait!

| Malia, what kind of raw are you doing? Nature's variety, Stella & Chewy's, Primal? I feed a combo of NV and prey model raw where you give them raw meat with the bone, which keeps their teeth sparkling clean. The premade raw also has bone in it which helps scrape their teeth but not as good as a chicken drumstick. There is a Raw food thread here on YT or a Raw Feeding Yahoo group that has tons of info on raw feeding. IMO I wouldn't feed any kibble!!

| Hi Yorkiechick! I feel like I'm taking over littlevane's topic. I don't give him any raw food! His breeder never told me about it! She said dry food would be sufficient! I am looking at various websites now. Thanks for your suggestions and any additional info would really help! Because now I'm confused!

PLEASE read this thread for an explanation as I'd rather not re-type: Feeding Raw/Non-Raw

| Thanks Wylie's Mom for clearing that up about feeding both together. I had always heard not to because of the digestion. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's the craziest thing - I wish I could figure out where that darn tale started...bc it just doesn't even make a little teensy amount of sense when you really look at how digestion works. If it made a little sense, I could see how it started, ya know? See, now that you know - will you please join me in pulling your hair out when you see it TOO???
