| Potatoes and Dairy Bad? I just read on a web site that dairy and potatoes are bad for dogs. Does anyone know if this is true. Many of the food products on the market are made of potatoes. I guess I'm most interested in whether fat free plain yogurt is bad for dogs too. |

| as far as I know plain yogurt is fine for yorkies. I know that most of the higher quality dog foods have sweet potatoes in them so they must be ok.

| For dogs who are not lactose intolerant, yogurt is good. Potatoes are safe too. You just have to make sure that they are not green and that they are peeled and cooked. They are high in potassium so they may not be appropriate for dogs with kidney issues. Sweet potatoes are safe as well.

| Non-fat cottage cheese and boiled potatoes are recommended as part of a bland diet. Cheese (I use low fat) is also a good treat once in a while. My girls love Yogurt as well, and it is good for the gut. I have found several home cook recipes that call for regular or sweet potatoes.

What reason did that site give for potatoes being bad? They are okay.

| My dog gets cottage cheese or egg daily in his meals and I make veggies ahead of time: potatos and sweet potatos as well as other veggies. |

Sam is now 3 months old and the food that came with him (at 7 weeks old) was , well who knows it was all in Japanese. but it didn't agree with him at all. so i ordered Natural Balance from pet Co ( 4 weeks ago ) while waiting for it i have been cooking and he is doing so much better. Is there some special veggies or something a puppy is supposed to get? thanks everyone
